That part number 6243A6 is not one of mine but sounds like a Wisco part.

Hi,

I am building a 632 ci BBC N/A 14:1. Whats the difference between SRP and JE?

ARUSSELL 08-20-2008 06:35 AM

The SRP pistons are designed to be a sportsman level piston, where the JE is a full competion piece. The SRP is made out of a different alloy that is not as strong as the JE. The JE parts have more machining processes for a shelf part and have the ablity to be custom built to your application.

I am putting together a 460 SB2 head engine in a 9.5 AL Dart block. Our current thinking with the 4.25 stroke is to use a 6.3 rod with a 1.075 pin height (give or take depending on final deck measurement). Will that be the best to use for stability, wear, and reliability? Or should we look at a different rod length/pin height?

ARUSSELL 08-20-2008 08:37 AM

The SB2 head is a little trickey due to the fact the intake valve relif is pushed so far twards the edge of the piston. I would reccomend a little shorted rod like a 6.250 or even better a 6.200 to give more compression height and better ring placement.
