327 help??

I have heard many difffrent things on how much my 327 is worth....i would just like to ask if anyone could give me a honest answer

Dozer: Hard question. I paid 300.00 for a 327 that came from a 68 camaro once that was bone stock & ran fine. Something tells me you probably think yours is worth more than 300.00 I bet. So many bad deals are done on motors here... have you looked at the scammer section?? Even if you have a fresh new SBC that is built; people will not pay top-dollar w/o taking it apart first... because of fear of misrepresentation.. which has occurred over & over here. So what is it worth??? you may get a different answer from every person here. JMO, Scooter

Is it a small or large journal motor? if you have a casting number list it on here.

lol-

I am actually afraid to total the receipts for my small journal 327 in my Nova, hmmmm SY1 crossram, stahl headers, forged crank, aluminum heads, aluminum wp, urethane mounts, custom pushrods, roller lifters, vintage cal custom aluminum pan and covers, and on and on......

Bottom line is that a stock dressed 327, painted and looking nice and complete could run from $650 to $1300 with outliers at the $2500 mark.

Of course an idot like me has about $5k in his if you include machine work.

If its a normal use running 327, assume $250 to $500.

What it's worth depends on who needs it. If it is a rare item that would only fit a couple of particular cars in the date code range it could draw good money. If it was a common unit (as most 327's are) they are worth about the same as any other small block.

I had a 427 that I sat on for 17 years, until someone found out I had something they desperately needed to finish their corvette restoration.

Wait... I forgot... if it is a "Corvette" 327 It is worth considerable money & should be registered & insured accordingly. Those bring big asking prices around RJ.

x2...post the casting & stamped # off the block & heads. I have a msa book that will tell exactly what you have. without that were just guessing

I sold a large journal about six montha ago. Long block, disassembled for $400. I think in todays economy you will have a hard time selling it for much more, unless of course it is to someone doing a date correct resto.
Good luck.
