I really chreish and desire your prayers. Thanks for the person who said they don't usually pray but would for Ed. Sir that is called a sacrifice of prayer becuase it is something hard for you to do. I am blessed you would now pray for me and happy to read this. You and your prayers will surely be blessed, in it. No reason now to stop talking to God is there ;)

Several whom I had sent Hosp info and Cell number sent me text messages, and I appreciated them. I was overwhelmed with phone calls, but in my frustration was eating it up

My email is working fine. PM does not. Also have unlimited text meassges now and new Cell Phone. All phones are transfered to cell for awhile and texting is best.

I can not talk.
Went into emergency room in VA Hosp Dallas at 7: pm Sunday nite. Someone had left some notes about me to the ER Registrations/Admittance staff. That did help some. They were already waiting for me and said something to me about me not coming in Saturday. Still was a bunch of paperwork.

I had with my sports bag with 8 new undershorts- 8 new sock pairs, Deodrant, shaving stuff, 2 pair of jeans 2 T shirts, 2 towells and 2 wash clothes, My Bible-3 other new religous books I have not yet read, 1 roll of toilet paper, small extension cord and phone charger. Bag was a little heavy for me. I had my 2 icey cold sport's drink bottles that go with me everywhere, at least one does, iT helps me to stay alive. I have to have icey cold water instantly like Emergency. I also took with me a small ice cooler with a few Dr. Peppers 12 os bottles, and much cubed ice with my Emergency Ice Packs which stay with me here in the shop or when I am traveling, consisting of Small Towel and Washcloth. They forst tole me I could not bring my icey drink bottle and my cooler in before I got them to understand that I have to have them to keep living when an attack hits me. Before I had moved from 1st stage admittance I suffered one of my breathing attacks right in fron of them, so they saw how urgent my little tool and suppies for me to cope are for me. They gave me a wheelchair for my stuff and it stayed with me all the time I was in hospital.

When I reached 2nd stage of admissions/Registration, there was several people ahead of me sitting and they rolled me right inside the door. They had me sit and made a phone call for someone to get me a bed ready. Next they did Vital Sign tests awhile. after was fully Registered in and almost admitted, (I thought with all they were doing I had been admitted in). Next saw a ER Doctor for exams with a Spark Plug Reader . Had another attack in the Doctors Exam room and the running water in her sink was not running. I had my icey water bottles with me so used them to flood my throat to help get some of the mucous and blood thinned so I could choke it up. Usually it takes what seems like 3 to 5 minutes of me gagging, choking, and heaving before I get back to breathing normal. That really hurts my stomach each time.

Next stage was putting me in a bed and hooking me up to check heart and more blood pressure checks and temp checks. That was my bed all the rest of the time I was in ER.

I was really impressed with how nice everyone was and how nice the hospital ER section was. Everyone of us with a bed was partioned from other beds some and were positioned around the ER Doc Station in center of large room, so they could all see all of us at the same tine and yet we did not have a feeling of being in a crowded room. Nothing like the Army Hospitals I was in.

There was where they did my blood work. For some reason over several hours they drew blood 3 different times. They tested my heart and my vitals also three times.

At close to 2am I asked them if this is where I would be the rest of the night or what comes next. The NUse asked me am I admitted as a patient yet. I showed her the needle aparqatus in my arm and my arm band, and said laughingly, that By lokking at his I would say I am an admitted patient. She told me that to her it didn't. They would not know until all the results came from all the testing for the ER Doctors to make that decision.

Went back to my bed and a guy came and hooked me up again to watch my heart, pressures, and stuff. I was really cold so covered up as good as I could and went to sleep.

One of the ER Doctors woke me at appx 5:am, in his words with some great news put possible a complication. His slight complications was. Let me tell you Big Guy, you have a big cancer in your mouth that is what is causing the things it is infecting to expand and close your throat keeping you from eating. I am sending you to our EENT Specialist Wednesday for him to help you. You need a specialist. We spoke a little about the cancer and I told him I am ok with it. HE responded that he can not say for sure it is cancer, he is not a specialist

His great news was I was going to get to go back home and not be admitted in. I asked him abpout feding me though the iv and about if I could get some anti-biotics to maybe help with some swelling, asking if they could do that through the iv connections still hooked to me, while I am here. His words were "Big Guy, your blood percentages are perfect and we can't add any medications. The specialist will have to make those decisions.

I asked him about my weaknesses and my dizzy falling down attacks and the heat stroke the previous day. He said you are weak and dizzy from not eating. I told him I spend almost half the day trying to eat. I want to eat. His words were when you see the EENT WEdnesday he will set you up to clip out the blockages.

This morning for awhile I was having blood run from my nose. Don't understand that. First time for that with this issue.

yes get a specialist to check it out, i did not post the problems with
my daughter, a dentist during her cleaning noticed her lips were
badly chapping and said she should have it checked out by a specialist,
that it looked like lip cancer. she had to wait almost a month due
to the specialist being booked, one morning she woke up with a huge
lump under her mouth and her lips had blisters all around and still
had 3 wks til her appt., we took her to a EM room and they said
she had all the symtoms of lip cancer. i should have asked my
gear heads for prayers but was too overwhelmed with the thought
of losing my daughter and leaving my grandchildren w/o a mom.
her appt was moved up and THANK GOD it was a bad case from
the sun, but no cancer, releived. may gods healing finger touch
you my brother ed, and hear our prayers for you my brother.

I too am frustrated with me now. We all thought it was an infection and infections do go down at times. I knew the TMJ lockup was from an injury but of course Cancer was not even considered.

I was scared of the Toncil and Addenoid surgeries at my age and just me being scared of hospitals and needles. I was terrified to think about doctors breaking my jaw joint to be able to open my mouth so they could operate.

Turns out that all of the above I guess would have been better then what I have now that is definate.

O'well one way or another life does go on. I am still trusting in God in Jesus to bring me through even all this.

[ADDED] I began my first Morphene treatments for pain yesterday. Man that stuff is bad to the bone].

Here is the latest as I know it now. I will keep all my shop phones separate from Cell Phone while I am not visiting or staying in Hospital, And when I go for visit or for staying, will have all phones transferred to cell phone. I can not talk I can listen, and I can read. It is awkward for me to Text Message but I can, Cell # for text messaging is 972-464-7400. If you call and leave voicemail it will take awhile for me to respond. This Voicemail sucks and is worse than PM ystems because it gets full too easy,

I have the final news about my conditions. I am now back out of Hospital again until they send me another appointment.

Normal weight= 230
weight in the scarecrow pics =160 lbs.
current weight = 119 lbs

Please do not be disappointed in me if someone posts a letter like this one somewhere. I can not write so many and make it all personal like I would like to be doing.

Now New Appt. Begin treatment Aug 1st 10:30am for cancer.

100% diagnosis is cancer. Large cancer.Everything on right side of face I.E. inside and Throat. - Tonsils - Adenoids- Tongue (on right side) Right Ear Canal - Right Upper Jaw - TMJ

Can not be surgically removed according to Doctors. Treatments available are only Chemo-Therapy or Radiation Therapy. The doctors have not yet decided what they are going to do, or can do. They tell me that the best I should hope for is the cancer to stop growing but it will likely be the same size, can't say for sure.

Doctors tell me if I can get to swallowing better thn now, that I can never swallow like before this. My hearing in right ear will forever be gone as it is now. That in my mind I will not be content with. My goal is to be able to eat real food again. I want to eat.

IF we can not build me up in anyway more, next step somewhere soon will be a surgically planted Feeding Tube in my stomach to pour Nutrients and body supplements in, kind of like pouring oil in an engine. I am not looking forward to that either.

Sorry to everyone who has sent me voicemails. I have not had time to check any of them. Maybe today I can. Text on Cell is also hard for me to do but is faster than voice mails. My voicemail is frustrating to me and box fills fast.

I appreciate any help anyone sends, gives, offers, up. Please Pray. I do not understand why This was not healed but so far it has not taken place in my body. I believe in the power of praying in Jesus Name. I still do.

I hate to even be so crass and crude to have mentioned this but I am so desparate and can't work and have not been able since I lost money on my last two engines.

Still have much difficulty breathing and trying to swallow. The hole size in throat is very tiny. It also feels like it has tears going down like open flesh. A little bit of mucous with blood or blood by it's self, or blood clot closes it up so I can not breathe any air. Then I have my breathing attacks which a couple of guys have witnessed while here. Randy Roberts (Gimmemud) witnessed one of my harder attacks while he was here picking up his new Ed-vanced Bullet, a 434 Cu In SB 15 degree Chevy. Brent Durst witnessed several milder attacks when he was here a few hours just to stop by and check on me. He bought me my new Text Messagable Cell Phone. It does really get scary trying to get air in and breathe at times. I tried to get an Oxygen prescription but failed.

I spend many hours per day just trying to find or fix something to eat that I can get to swallow. Anything that is thick I can not swallow, No Protein drinks, Milk shakes etc. Any cold drinks have to be really icy cold. Any hot drinks have to be hot. I have no doubt wasted hundreds of dollars buying stuff to find out I can't swallow it.

Oddly I can eat eggs in almost any form of cooking if they are soft cooked so they can be liquid. with running yokes or liquid and not firm. I am doing soft scrambled Egg Beaters in microwave in little omelet pans - Poached Eggs - Eggs Overeasy with yellow running - I use only the pasteurized eggs in cartons for the low temp cooking though. Poached and over easy I use real eggs.

I can eat fish as long as it is not cooked too firm. It has be moist and tender flaky. I have a little electric Farberware Grill that I use to fish and a few other things with. It is like a small charcoal grill except it has electric heating elements. I have a two burner gas camping type of stove. I have a GE Toaster Oven with heating elements in top and bottom, and a microwave. two slow cooking crock pots, one small and one bigger, I have a good deep fryer. That is what I use to cook with. I am really very blessed.

I can eat in tiny pieces, like the fish soft tender moist cooked Rotisserie chicken the dark meats. The white is too dry. I can eat Gumbo or Eetufee if very juicy. At times I have to run those through a blender to chop the meat up. I also chop up sausages, ham, bacon, into very chopped and mix a little with a couple of eggs fried over easy.

Fish aggravates me because it is all imported. I have not seen any fish for sale anywhere that is caught and processed in the USA. Anyone know where that will ship to me frozen? or maybe some real Gumbo or EeTufee (spelling sucks) that will ship to me?

I am learning to improvise as much as I can. I bought a chopper, a food processor, and the thing I use the most I bought two of and that is the old fashioned cheap food chopper that you chop by hand with.

I can drink freezing cold soft drinks like Dr.Pepper (Not on my diet) Sprite - 7 Up - Lemon Lime - (in my diet) as long as they do not get too warm. I can drink Hot Chocolate or Coffee as long as it does not get cool.

Actually I can't drink anything. I have to sip in small sips but it does go down the hatch.

My only source of income now is a $900.00 per month SSI Check and what few parts I can sell from guys on the internet that I can help them with. I gave this to VA Hospital.

I have extreme difficulty talking, so I am writing as much as I can to hopefully be able to communicate with you here in the VA Hospital.

1.
Please do not cut open my throat!
If you witness my attacks where I can't breathe.

When I have my attacks that I can not breathe, I need to be able to stand and work it out my own way. After a few minutes of gasping, choking, spitting muccous, or blood or a mixture, or blood clots, and hard heaving, then next is flooding my mouth and throat with cold water with pressure if possible from squirt bottle with me or from a sink basin. then gradually I will be able to start breating slowly at first but it does not take too much longer before I breathe ok.

At times I have to spit it on the floor when I am gasping and gagging. I clean up the mess, so that is still better than my throat cut for a breathing tube.

I have to keep a bottle or icy water with me at all times, and something to spit in. I am bringing with me two Icy Cold Water Bottles. I hope you will help me keep them or give me something so I have chilled icy water at all times. I have a small ice cooler in my truck in the parking lot if I am allowed to bring it in and keep it near me and if you have ice for it? I also can sip slightly frozen icy Dr.Pepper, 7-up, and Sprite. I can't actually drink anything in any volume. I have to slowly sip them, but they do help to comfort me.

I have had breathing difficulties for many years, I guess most of my adult life, but this problem is different. Before all this hit me, my only problem was losing my breathing at times during a cold, flue, or allergy problems, and at night while sleeping. That results in fear and also not breathing for several minutes. I have gotten used to that as my normal life though now.

My Current # 1 Priority now is to be able to breathe in and out ok. Perhaps Anti Biotics could help some?

My Tongue-Adenoids-Tonsils-Whole right side of mouth and throat are swollen hard and painful. The right TMJ is almost frozen and will barely move.
The Big Gland under the TMJ is swollen hard and is painful. Bad Earaches from time to time in right ear. Loss of hearing in right ear. For two weeks my Esophagus has now been affected so I can barely talk.

I am very weak now and at times am suffering much dizziness when trying to stand or walk. At other times I seem to be able to stand and walk.

Today almost lost it with a heat stroke, but someone was here and by coincidence had made me up an ice cooler full of ice with towels soaking in it, yesterday after I almost passed out several times yesterday from dizziness and disorientation due to weakness all over. Anyway he bathed my face neck and chest and back with freezing ice water and it brought me back. That was cool. Seems that ice water bath on face, neck, and shoulders works wonders for me.

Hopefully this can help you to better understand my conditions and how to treat me when I have an attack.

Hello Ed, I don't think we have meant, but I am a little new to this forum & posting. I have read all of your posts. I am sorry you are going through this harsh deal. I want to thank you for your words of God & hope. Bible says we will encounter many trials & tribulations, but to take heart becasue God has overcome the world. Way to crucify the flesh.... by speaking out & not giving up. I am glad you took the time to explain... by you doing this, I can pray for you & your family, your doctors/specialits, & for God's will to have total control. You know that God is the untimate healer, nothing too big... he can baffle those doctors & man's words.... stay strong. Doctors are great & we need them, but they commonly speak in a worldly tone & sometimes negitive way... don't let them get you down. I bet it is hard what you are going through everyday... I am glad to hear your faith & trust in God is there. You give hope to those who may only be a few steps away from a major trial themselves... there is no doubt that God will get the glory on this one too. Keep praying... we will pray. I have known of you for over 2 years now from both SpeedTalk and here on RJ and have read much of what you have posted. You have always been a gentelman, always been helpful and supportive to others and your Christian background shows thru in what and how you write replies. What a testimony of your faith. Whether God chooses to heal you of this disease or not is up to him. His will be done! My thoughts and prayers for strength, understanding and healing go out to you in this time of trouble! Romans 8:28: “All things work together for good to them that love him (God) and are called according to His purpose”.

Hi Ed. I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. Some times our old bodies don't treat us the best. We go threw life feeling like Superman and then get a wake up call. I've been in the VA hospital with life threatening illness, and all I can say is give all your worries to god, because that's what he's there for. It surly lightened my load at the time. I said here it's all yours. If you take me, I'm yours anyway and if you save me thank you. It set me free. One of the nurses in surgery noted that I was very calm for going into surgery as she hooked me up to the vitals machinery. You can count on me putting in a good word for you.

I don't know if it would work for you, but a good friend had cancer of the Esophagus and he drank hot onion soup. In small portion he mixed that calorie paste and washed it down with the soup.

To the doctors thier opinions say and I
hate to say it but this is terminal cancer according to them.

Aug 14th the N.Texas Tumor Board is meeting for final discusion and decisions to be considerd for treattment process with my oldest daughter and myself in this meeting. I think actual treatment begins sh they look at it as a few days time to gain the best decisions with the most experienced specialist is much better for me than a quick decision from a quick let'''''s hurry and start treatment to get something moving is best approach.

He has stage 4 cancer and will have to remain hospitalized or in a nursing home for care. He is still able to sell parts from his hospital bed and would appreciate all the buisnesss he can get.

like i told you before sir, i dont pray but i would for you well buddy my praying has gone into overtime. i think your reply was i would get easier.if that was you that said it you were right, it does.kinda funnyed, never prayed for my dad when he was dying didnt even prat for myself when i had this damn wreck, now im praying for a man i never met, but i feel ive known you for a long time. just thru your posts.so im praying for you ed. but ed you have something i want. i seen it in your posts and it never seems to waiver and that is your faith.i admire that ed.even in your time of troubles you have a rock solid faith in your god.that takes a very strong man and thats what i admire. so ill keep praying and you keep up the faith and do what them doctors tell ya ken

Any updates on Ed? We're still praying.

I spoke with Ed for over an hour last night and he is in good spirits. He was heavily medicated for several days last week, but is doing much better now. He will be moved to a medicaly assisted living facility in a few days. He thinks he will be able to have dsl internet access there. The VA hospital he is in now doesnt have any internet access. I will fly out to visit with him as soon as he gets into his new home.

Believe it or not but as sick as Ed is he is still building an engine from the hospital. Just a short while before he got really sick a friend of mine took him an engine to be built. even with all the things he has been through, he is getting this done, he wont be able to pull the wrenches when it goes together, but he is designing every part and will have it assembled the way he wants it. The block is at LSM Engineering now having a 55mm cam tunnel and 904 lifter bores. The heads and intake are @ RFD for some of Curtis's magic.
This is a 440ci SB2 should produce over 900hp and has a healthy dose of NOS also

He is determined to beat this and has grand plans for the future, he wanted everyone to know that he really apreciates all of your thoughts and prayers, and any monetary help as well.

Ok guys and girls Ed can only make but one post like this, with this temp borrowed Laptop. Pop-up hell. plus the electric plug keeps falling out and I am not familiar with Lap Tops yet. I have an old one that I used for tuning on EFI stuff, so this is different world for me and is really slow.

I made this post for SpeedTalk and for Yellow Bullet and also posted at Racng Junk. I saw that some of you were interested in me and what is taking place in my life now. This is first time I am able to actualy get online. I am enjoying it.

Ok guys - I went and Visited with Ed who is still in the VA hospital here in Dallas. As you can see from the picture, Ed currently has a Trach Tube.

The good news is that the Dr's have decided to treat Ed despite the fact that the Cancer is far progressed. Treatment should begin within a week. Based on what Ed wrote on on his notepad, he will undergo radiation daily (not sure for how long) and he will also undergo Chemo once per week for approximately 39 treatments!!

He will be discharged from the VA hospital within a week and will most likely go to an assisted living community / nursing home - It looks like Brentwood here in Dallas will most likely be the place. He will be shuttled back and fourth daily for his treatments.

Because of the cost of the nursing home, Ed has to sign over his entire SS check and he will be given $60 a month for his discretionary income. His desire is to be able to sell some parts so that he may supplement this amount as it is obviously next to nothing. I plan on working with some of you guys so we can get him a decent laptop so he can communicate and hopefully earn some money by selling some parts. I plan on contacting the nursing home in the next few days to see what they have for internet connectivity if anything.

Ed is unable to talk but a few words at a time.. He did want me to give you his new hospital phone number 214-302-1553. I think he will be there for a least another 3-4 days. He may not be able to say much but he can most certainly understand what is spoken and his mind is there 100%. Maybe a quick call just to tell him hi and any good wishes.

I talked to Ed yesterday afternoon, he seems in very good spirits, certainly sounds like he is handling this better than I could, says a lot about this gentleman's strength & faith.
It was really good to talk to him for a few minutes.

Also, just a reminder but as stated above by Marcus
Ed is trying to make a few extra dollars by selling parts so if any of you are needing something Ed can help you with please take the time to give him a call.
Hell, even if you don't need something ring him up & let him know you are thinking of him
If nothing else it may give him a few minutes respite from what he is going through

Thx to a friend here in Dallas he loaned to me his laptop for a couple of days. i wish he had a good pop-up blocker' This thing is pop-up hell and difficult to use because of so many windows keep opening. Still I am very thankful for him to bring it for my use a few days. Another friend Watt Biggem loaned me his older Dell with a Wy-Fye card but I couldnot get it to work at all. This one that Jon KIng loaned me is an older one too It saya Compaq Presario V200 and has a Verison card sticking from it. Actually would be working goodwith a security system to stop the pop -ups. I am still blessed richly though.

I have had a Theme song about my Terminal Cancer since I was told. Years ago a singe named Bobby Mcpherson did a song. Actually I think it is a WW I song. Titled *Don't Worry Be Happy. Well friends that is now Ed's Theme Song and they way I am trying to live my life, with mucho help in my heart from God. I actually enjoyed planning out my funeal plans with my best friend Chad Kohler and My oldest daughter Belinda Wilson, Tennessee, and my Little sister Alice Beauman from Hot Springs Ark.

I have now done my third treatment out of a total of I think 39.

For my first time I am supposed to be in the same room longer than 2 days. they keep moving me continually. for various reasons and putting me in places cel is not permitted.

i DEFINETLY DID WAIT FAR TOO LONG BEFORE SEEKING help. Paying a huge price for too.

Some of tthe cancer Doctors have losely given me a time frame but most are reluctant to say any certain amount of days, weeks or months. Pretty all refuse to talk with me about years. One went as far to tell me that the best right now I should expect is what they call Palative Treatments. He told me that when the cancer tumors are as large as mine are that the best case will be to help someof the pain get better in the treatments, but it is likely for me to still be in a pain but different kind from the treatments as the treatments do thier job' so according to that one, don't expect them to work miracles.

An expression that seems to be used much by physicians about how long do I have Are words in an expression that I am really starting to hate. here it is' * None of us know how long it will be. Could get run over by a car tomorrow.

I did corner the main Doc that is signed off on treatment andproceedures to be used. he told me I am treating you to be cured as much as we can. Mr Wilson your tumors are very large, but I am ordering for you thedaily treatments to try to stp it from rowing and to make it shrink. We aare treating for a cure as you asked, but we want you to not get hopes up too high. He let me know that if my treatment was supposed to only keep me comfortable, that He would not have had reasons to warn me about the pains this stepped up treatment will possibly cause from burns.

So bottom line is I will live.

Hate bringing up money subjects again but I wish to express as much apprecian as I know how to those who did help. I feel it is fair for you to all know what your blessing to me and my oldest daughter Belinda Wilson, My oldest grand son Corey, and dear sweet precious Gracie, my youngest grand daughter have been wonderfully blessed by you. The VA Hospital gave them some really nice living quarters. Thier room was pretty nice to me. So we were able to stretch it out further and was used mostly for eating expenses for them. This was like a God send to me, to be able to enjoy them with me here. I love them and the others who could not yet make it so very much.

Ed is getting ready to be more available to sell some parts we are already WD with now for some income and to still be able to get you who wish
some really decent prices.

I am also wondering how Engines by Ed-vanced Engines, built by proxy would work? Guess I am dreaming about this though. I would be the brains behind it and by close communicating and a good wrench turner that has the tools and some basic race engine abilities, with a machinits that follows my directons by the letter should run pretty good and I collect like a consultant fee and some parts profit. I actually have sucessfullly already done this once and am now doing something similar with a SB 2.2 head 440 cu in alky Mud Truck.

I still have a few things in my old noggin that never get posted.

Ed, Great to hear from you! ... keep that positive attitude, and with God's mercies, you are going to do well!

We will keep praying for you and your family and will get a letter off to you this weekend. Wifey says she knows how to get flowers to you, so she is going to work on that first thing next week. Ed, I can appreciate that request for flowers. I am a big guy, but I sure like flowers also, particularly yellow ones! The wife planted a ring of black eyed susans around the garden this year, and I really liked that.
