horse power estimate
i have a 385 stroker sbc
its got flat top pistons an eagle cast steel crank, 3.75 stroke, gm 194 iron heads high rise dual plane manifold, hooker comp headers and duals, and a lunati 489 and 491 cam with a 650 carb. what do yall think |
assuming its a 383ci
350hp (being generous here) sorry not much for heads and cam there and most likely 9:1 compression |
I would have to agree with Brian.
Prob right around 325-350. These heads will kill it. |
idk
i didnt think it was gonna produce a hole lot of hp whith those heads.. compression ratio is too low... but i took it to the track and run a 13.66 in the 1/4 mile in a 83 longbed it olny has a 2000 stall and 308s too it dont make sence to me |
Hey nothing wrong with that...trust me there are plenty of engines that don't suppose to run that put up some livable numbers.
just by reading your last reply i would say that engine with a 308 gear and tight converter is laying all that 300 hp to the track ( no spin) which results in your 13.66 et.... put a 600hp engine in your truck and drive it the same way and you run a 15.66..... :D |
im thinkin about gettin some other heads though
just to get a lil extra power to it and ive always thought higher compression sounds great through longtubes what would u suggest |

ON Those heads maybe a bowl blend, gasket match..DO NOT DO ANYMORE THEN THIS on a street driven pump gas engine RACE fuel, track engine Nothing less then a 2.05 up to a 2.10......aluminum head with a Full port Job..if you know a good reputable port men...CNC is the next best Have then angled milled and try to get as close to 14:1 compression as you can with those flat tops..u might can only get 13:1 out if it.. ya gonna have to change up on the intake,,more carb, and more agressive cam..all this is gonna depend which route you take you can squeeze 550hp out of that 383ci with above changes |
