Phoenix Slicks

I have been out of racing awhile and am wondering if anyone has experiances with Phoenix Slicks(firestone?)
I know goodyears.. but at the track i see alot of hoosier too..Problem is Goodyear and Hossier do not have the exact size im looking for.
Pheonix has the size i want and Med compound.. but im not familiar with these.
Application is a back half'd S10 sbc 3100 now i have 14.5x32x15.. which is overall too big imo. Wheel spin has never been a problem.. Im looking to go to a 31 x13x15 with 12 in rim. With tire diameter 30.6 or a little shorter- section width 15.6 or a little less.. tread 12.8 or close to.
I could use a little more gear so a shorter tire will help and the reduced size will be lighter..maybe a better 60ft.

thanks in advance
Keith

We've always had real good luck with Phoenix slicks. They seem to last pretty long. Or at least longer than our Hoosiers

Had a set of 14-32s on my roadster. Ran 10.0s with them just fine. Only reason I changed is I went to 16.5-33 Hoosiers. Still not sure it was a good move.

i have used some 14/32 phoenix on my 67 camaro and ran pretty good..no complaints..

just some food for thought...why not take a look at some 10.5w's M/T..guys are running 4.50's on these tires @3,000 lbs with no problems.
probaly a quicker tire also due to being an overall smaller tire..

ever thought about running the new drag radial slick ?....fast .fast tire...no growth on the roll out...this is the quikest tire out there if your truck can lay it down.
IMO Only

I have a set of pheonix slicks on my chevelle 29.5x11.5W. I bought them used from a swap meet. They work great, I have no traction problems at all, but the tires just don't smoke when doing a burn out. I have tried all types of different burnouts...long, short and different spots in the burnout box. They don't have much life left now, are they just getting old?? They are still soft.

I run a hoosier 29.5x11.5w.W is for wide so actual size is 30.5x13.5 and has a stiffer sidewall so I run lower tire pressure
