Racingjunk Forums - Hookin' For Hope Charity Pull to benefit Virgil Barker

On October 5th starting at 5:00pm at the Fayette County Ohio Fairgrounds the Hookin' For Hope Foundation will host their 4th Annual Truck/Tractor Pull. This year they will be benefiting a long time veteran of the sport, my Dad, Virgil Barker. He was in a horrific accident on March 16th and sustained 3rd and 4th degree burns throughout his body. He has went through multiple surgeries including a full face skin graft, skin grafts on the entire scalp, neck, arms, wrist, backs of his legs and various other spots. He also suffered severe lung damage and survived pneumonia three times. The Doctors did not expect my Dad to make it through the night and he is still here with us today. This is a true testament to what God is capable of. My Dad is a walking miracle! That is what the nurses called him. He was in SICU for 85 days, in the burn unit for 3 days and spent the remainder of his 145 day stay at Dodd Hall going through intense therapy. Although, he has came so far, he still has mountains to climb. My Dad has been pulling for 35+ years. He started pulling a truck called After Taxes years ago and we quickly grew into a team. My Dad absolutely loves this sport. Hopefully you could come and join us!
