Performance C4 Tranny's
I am building a pro street/drag 40 Ford Coupe. Car is a tube chassis. Engine will be a BBF 429 pushing 800+ horse power. I was originally looking at a C6. However, I ran into the Performance Automatic Super Comp C4 (1000 HP). Dynamic Transmission also offers a C4 with the same ratings. The size and weight difference provides obvious advantages. Anybody know anything about these transmissions? Do they work well behind a BBF? Are they reliable and hold up if run hard?

If you want reliable put a glide in it.

2nd that on the glide...or a 400 turbo if you gotta have a 3 speed

HEY GUYS-NOT EVERYTHING WORKS BETTER WITH A GLIDE BEHIND IT
THE COMPANY BUILDS SOME GREAT TRANS /IF THEY HAVE TESTED THE C4 TO A CAR OF YOUR SPECS AND RECOMMEND IT THEN I WOULD CHECK THEM OUT   FORDS DO WORK VERY WELL WITH FORD PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!  LIVELY |
The engine does not care what brand trans is behind it. Just about anything with 800 HP will work better with a 2 speed whether it is a Lenco or a glide. Parts are easy and reasonable to find for a glide. Just like saying a Mustang won't run right with a Chevy in it.

The C-4 won't last long behind your BBF. They don't do well with torque. We broke C-4 with SBF's, ended up running C-6s. A-1 makes an awesome conversion for the powerglide to go behind your BBF. PG are easy to freshen and there's alot of good used parts available if you need. I hated to but went PG's on my Fords.

Thanks everybody. Like "Lively", I am a Ford purist at heart. I also need the 3 speed for the street. I have decided to give the Performance Automatic Super Comp C4 a shot. The Lifetime guarantee is an added bonus. I'll post the results once I get the car done.
