cam help
ok guys ive been trying to save up and build me something to race again.not having much luck so what i was thinking for now is just do a little 406 forged pistons with NOS. ive got everything to build it except the cam im going to run a roller. i have aluminum brodix track one heads with 2.08 intake and 1.60 exhaust 228 intake runners. im going to get another s10 or s10 blazer to put it in this winter. my question is would this cam work ok for now? or what would you run?
Xtreme Energy XR286R Mechanical Roller Camshaft Only Lift: .576''/.582'' Duration: 286°/292° RPM Range: 3000-7000 |
My truck had a 406 with the track 1"s on it when I got it. It had a Lunati part # 50172SB stick. I loved it, it also ran good on NOS considering it had a tight lobe separation. Anything under a 250 shot, I wouldn't change a thing.

I agree with Tporter, but i would go to 1.6 rockers on the intake I like the bullit or comp 6.30/6.30 @ 106 lobe and 276/282 installed at 102TDC,
but that's a personal preference JMO Zip. |

I noticed the specs are very similar on my camcard and Zip's. Mine just has a tad more exhaust lift. I think Zip's cam would work...

the only thing is my stall is 4000

Keep the duration to around [email protected] on intake and 10 to 12 more on exhaust with your current converter. Run your LSA around 112 with NOS. Determine your lift by figuring the coilbind height on you springs (use the retainer for measurments, it may change the actual). Add .060 to .080 for clearance. Then subtract this from you seat height. This is where you want your VALVE lift (including difference from higher ratio rockers). You can go slightly less, but no more on lift.
