You want to keep it stock....so you put in a solid roller? :?

Just an FYI....

If you break a solid roller lifter, there is a good chance that
you can kiss the block bye bye.

I wouldn't do it unless it was a race engine. JMO

I don't recall seeing such mild numbers for a roller. Are you sure this isn't a mechanical flat tappet piece?

If the numbers are correct, you will have a huge static compression ratio. Nowhere for the 12.5:1 to bleed off.

I agree, that cam is WAY too small for 12.5to1! your cranking comp
would be way too high! even w/ race fuel, need at least 20-25 more

x2, id place my money that this cam isnt a solid roller cam. i also agree why use a rare block for a race set up?!@?@?@?@?!!!

im sure youd be better off selling the block to someone that needs it for an original build and find that plain jane 454 block to build up or spring for a 540 shortblock, they are eeeeeazy to find and make power with

good luck

Wolverine cam company, or other cam companies can send you a very nice cam for that engine, but here is what I had in a 454 and I think it would be perfect for you, but you need 110-112 race gas to run it. This cam is a solid mechanical cam used with solid lifters and needs lash adj. from time to time, but works great in big blocks. This engine you have needs to breath and get the exh charges out so you need some more dur. and a dual pattern on the lift like the cam below.

Intake lift .560
Exh. lift .580
dur. at .050 270/280
110 C/L and set it up dot to dot on the timing gears and hang on :D should produce 450-550hp and it will rev with that stroke crank you have to 7600 rpm's all day long with good rods and good bolts in them rods, is it balanced in the bottom end??? This is basically an L88 grind also.

Bummer too as I just sent my buddy this cam that I ran for a few laps and it ran 10:36 all day long and never missed a beat, he may still have it if you want me to check????? let me know as you could get it for cheap, just buy new lifters and your off and running strong.

Let me know at [email protected] and I can see if my buddy still has it.

ps, I will call my buddy and get all the specs on the cam and if he still has it.
