Enclosed Trailer
 

I'm looking to purchase a 24ft or 26ft enclosed trailer. Looking for just a basic trailer. I was initially looking at used ones, but I keep seeing these ads for low priced brand new ones. (such as Pro Line or Wagon Master) Does anyone have any experience with the new enclosed trailers that are advertised for around the $4500 to the $5000 range?

You also might want to check out the trailer dealers also. They might have "new" trailers that are a year or two old still on the lot that they havent sold. When I bought my horse trailer it was a 2007 that I bought in 2008 brand new still. They couldnt sell it as "new" cuz it was a year old. They dropped the price on it and everything. My next trailer is going to be an enclosed car hauler made by Featherlite.

Just throwing this out there, be careful of an H&H trailer, they layed off everyone last week and filed for bankruptsy. I dont know if they will restructure or not. I will keep you posted if i hear anything.

I lookes long and hard at all kinds of trailers this year. What I found was the cheap trailers were plane jane and just that cheap! You can find a good used trailer loaded for a really good price right now. You will have to look hard but they are out there. Still alot of guys have thier stuff way over priced.
I looked at a 2005, 48' loaded with full living quarters, 7k onan, observation deck, air compressor etc. trailer for $24,500. TRailer was probably worth 28, but I still didn't buy it. A few weeks later the guy called me and said $17,200 is what he owed and I could have it for that!!
One day I'm gonna kick myself in the butt for not buying it, I'm just not in a position to buy one this year.

Also, those inexpensive trailers usually have light weight 3500lb 5 lug axles. Depending on how much you are going to haul, you might want to make sure it has at least 5000lb. 6 lug axles. It's a big difference between being able to have a 10,000 GVWR trailer vs. a 7,000 GVWR one. JMO

I bought a trailer from proline it is a 30 footer. 10000 lbs rating nice trailer they even through cabinets in it for me because it was 3 weeks behide schueld at no cost to me.I upgraded from a 24 foot haulmark and to be truthful there is no difference. atleast i haven't seen any, It was built in elkart indiana right next door to haulmark manufacture.

some of the less expensive models have leaf springs too, stay away from those and go with the torsion bar style, much better ride

Watch the axles, you want 6 or 8 lug wheels, also torsional axles not straight tubing, tubing will bend over time, :!: :!:
