WHAT CONVERTER TO USE?
 

Getting ready for my 406 engine install this week.
I got a TCI breakaway torque converter in the car now hooked up to a TH350
gives me 2400 flash stall
works great with my 383 and still takes off like a scalded dog.
Now I also have a TCI street fighter torque converter with advertized 3000 flash stall.
Now with my 406 should i just stay with the breakaway torque converter or step up to the streetfighter?
I dont drag the car much except for a few times but do like to play around and the cam starts making power and torque around 2200 rpm.
the way i see it is to stay with the breakaway to be right near the onset of the power band.
my rear ratio is 3:73
which would you chose and why?

Thats a tuff call.I would go with the higher stall.I was running a 4200 stall and the street and loved it.A 406 has a fairly long stroke and could probably benefit from more stall to help launch.But if you stay on the street alot,the tighter converter will probably be easier to drive.Do you mostly drive highway or in town?

I just dont wanna be screaming from a stop to get moving lol

With my 4200 in my car the motor would go to about 1800-2000 if taking off normally.Going down the highway I was taching 3400 at 60mph,so never noticed it there either.Real loose converter can get scary on a wet road :shock:
