Nosing over

Hey I snuck the cars out this weekend. The truck ran pretty good, it went 11.22 @ 118. Not bad for a cheapy motor.

BUT

The dragster was nosing over at about 800 feet and ran 8.96 at only 138 mph. On the first pass fuel psi dropped to 5.5 under load, so I turned it up and it stayed above 6.5 but still did the same thing. I am thinking the problem is in my fuel delivery. I have a Mallory comp 250 fuel pump, but I only have about a foot of -8 braid feeding it. It makes a 180 degree bend.

Does anybody else think that this could be the problem?

I was looking at putting -12 with 90 degree ends on them to be less restrictive and give it more volume.

It noses over after about 6 seconds of full throttle, but is not related to RPM. I shift at 6800 and it noses over at about 6400 on the big end.

What do you guys think? Thanks

Josh,
Is your car on gas or alcohol?

After setting all winter you might check your needle seats. Sounds like it might have some sh#t keeping it from opening and closing like it should.

x2

Also 180 degree bend isnt a good thing, use -8 and a 90 degree

Its on gas. I was at trails. There was a head wind, but the car completely laid over like you went from full throttle to half throttle. The car is crisp and very driveable it just flatlined after the 1/8th. It went 5.595, 5.597 and 5.601 in the 1/8th.

I'll try to get a picture of my feed line either tonight or tomorrow...

Thanks Guys

I agree Parker, but the problem is I was running 1/4 mile and went 9.02, 9.06 and 8.96 at speeds of 138, 135 and 139. It would have been hard to beat on the 1/8th though. I was real happy with the truck though, it ran 7.142, 7.143, 7.146 and 7.147. I lost with a .014 package in Pro. I cant wait to go to the 1/8 mile track...lol...

Our SBC dragster did the same thing at the first race this year. I noticed that three of the four high speed air bleeds had green muck in them. I pulled the metering plates and sprayed carb cleaner in the holes and then blew them out. Worked great afterward. Some of the problems with the 113 and other oxygenated fuels. I also noticed that the needle seats where sticking a little also.
