new old slicks
how old can slicks be and still be safe? a friend has some brand new m/t slicks that have never been mounted and have been in his basement for @12 years since new. thanks, charlie

probably dead but as long as they aint dry rotted should be safe I think

M/T says they have a 3 year shelf life. I would think 12 year old slicks would be worthless.

I used some that were ten years old just to make a few passes cause it was close to winter and they hooked good...but I wouldn't recomend it. I would look em over very close for cracks if you do try em....but I bet the rubber is dead.

12 years is a long time, for a non dot tire that contain exotic compound,s, that may not withstand that kind of test of time. i would be reluctant to use them.

talked to a rep at m/t today. he said the same. prob no good and advised not to run them. might just leave them be. thanks for the replies all. charlie
