I'm new.. Let me try this...
I hope this is the right spot for this....I took my 66 stang to the track for the first time. Its got a 289 w/ .030 over forged pistons, stock rods, stock crank, crane 292 dur./512 lift, 1.6 roller rockers, canfield 2.02 heads, RPM intake, eldelbrock 600 carb, hedman long tubes, 4 speed, stock 8" (I know) w/ 4.10's and a mini spool on street tires(I going to get some slicks soon) . I don't know how heavy the car is. I was shifting at 6k and went thru the traps in 4th at 5500. Think I could hit the 12's with slicks? tell me what you think. Thanks Kelly

R/T .352 60' 2.040 330' 5.879 1/8 9.022 mph 79.72 1000 11.668 1/4 13.902 mph 101.20 2nd pass Tried small burnout, Still spun 2nd but not as bad R/T .177 60' 2.166 330 5.873 1/8 8.873 mph 82.60 1000 11.445 1/4 13.625 mph 103.47 Final pass Same as 2nd pass R/T .147 60' 2.067 330 5.793 1/8 8.818 mph 81.95 1000 11.416 1/4 13.617 mph 102.58 |
i think a high to mid 12 is very possible but put a 750cfm carb on there cuz i bet ur motors being held back from that 600cfm

:D CAR LOOKS TO RUN PRETTY GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS , BUT THE REACTION TIMES STINK , PROBALLY WOULD STILL BEAT A MOPAR

I'M NEW
How hard are you leaving and what kind of street tires? Slicks will find the week link. I agree a 750double pumper will help it breath and definitely run faster & quicker but it will also shake the tires loose when you open it all the way(mechanical secondaries). You need both, just don't go w/ too wide of a tire. I had a 74 Nova SS 4-Speed car 400 smallblk. shortrod, dish piston, doublehump's, muncie, 4.10 10bolt back in the 1990's that ran mid 7.80's. Goodyear 10"slick, thats all I could get at the time. Was leaving at 3500rpm & either smoke the clutch or bust a u-joint. Pop told me "LEAVE HARDER", play w/ the tire press., that did the trick. Keep up posted, ask ?'s. Kris

Thanks for all the tips. I do have a 650 DP that i'm going to try. The tires are 255/55/17 nitto's, plain radials, no D/R's. I going to get some M/T 28/9/15 slicks soon (if I find used even sooner) 10's are to wide to fit in my wheelwell. My reation times do suck but hey, I haven't been to the track in like 12-15 years, give me a little seat time i'll be OK
Here she is waiting for some body and paint work :P , Oh and I am the 2nd owner, the first was my father, he bought it new in '66. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...ictures024.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j.../engine005.jpg |
