how long can alcohol sit in your lines and carb and how often should you put regular fuel in system.

Alcohol should not sit in your lines too long. We normally drain th elines and carb out after a drag day, ( that evening ) The Alcohol is very caustic and will rust / dammage anything it's in contact with for a period of time.
we normally spray wd 40 down the carb or fuel injection while ideling the engine and kill it, drain the alcohol spray the lines, carb bowl's etc with wd.

Longest fuel sits in the line is weekend to weekend, if it rains it'll sit there untill I race again. I've never ran no top lube or bieleve in draining lines or spraying wd-40 in the carbs. I have a buddy that does this every time he races same setup and when taking the motors apart we see no difference in anything. I ran my Injection (rons toilet) this way also, and will run my Terminator that way this year. Its all about what you feel you need to do.

I guess, it's all prefrence. That's what I was taught to do by a carb builder.
Where I am at with high humidity, let the carb sit for 5-7 days and there is white scale in the bowls. jets are corroded too.

We have run 4 different alc. set ups on our cars

1- Blown SBC (Injected) fuel is drained from the tank+lines after every weekend. Pump Barrel valve are WD40'd. Lines are blown clear of any fuel left over and then WD40'd and we use air to blow the WD thru.

2- Injected SBC. everything as above

3- Carb BBC. the same

4- Injected BBC I have done exactly as above and had no problems with alcohol residue. Then I started adding Klotz to the drum of alcohol when it was delivery to the shop. If I am running back to back weekends, I'll leave whatever is left in the tank to warm the car up the next weekend. If the car is going to sit longer I drain all the lines and the tank. I might even give the pump and barrel valve a shot of WD40.. I have had no problems this way again. The only funny thing I see is that whereever the fuel flows. from the nozzle into the head into the cylinder is a light shade of pink

Still would like more info on that carb we could help you out with that info I asked for.

Even though I have never drag raced with alky my son used to kart race and we ran it in his motor. I used to remove the alky from the tank and put a little pump gas in it and run it for about a minute or two to purge it out. The only draw back to this was the gasoline basically ruined the spark plug. I kept an old spark plug to do this with. I think this proceedure would be to time consuming for something with 8 cylinders, but it might be someting to look at if you were storing your racer for the winter.
I have a friend that races dirt IMCA mods. He has to clear his fuel system as well. He has a tee in the line from the tank to the fuel pump with a valve in it and a valve to shut off the flow from the tank. When he's done on Saturday night he takes a gallon of gas and runs a hose from the tee to the can of gas and opens the valve at the tee and closes the one going to the tank. He cranks the car and runs it until he hears the engine change tone telling him it's runing on gasoline and then he shuts it down. He's been doing this for a long time and as far as I know has never had any fuel system problems related to corosion.
