coolant seeping between block and head

I have a sbc in my drag car that has coolant between the heads and the block on the exhaust side of the heads. What would cause this?Car runs great,no coolant in oil and radiator is still full.

What kind of gaskets r they?
How long have they been in there?
Could be a faulty gasket or a small low on ur heads or block.

What head are you running?

1. engine has 80 1/4 mile passes on it and runs awesome
2. Dart iron eagle heads
3. no boost,carb
4.fel pro 1003 gaskets- Info I received from another site tells me that engine builders have experienced this, the problem caused from coolant walking on head bolts. The seepage is not coming from under the head bolts on the exhaust side of the head, its between the head and block where a portion of the head gasket extends past the head. One builder stated he pulled the heads off and found nothing wrong, hence the use of the bars leak tabs. It's just a very small amount, not a real leak. They recommended using bars leak tabs or GM tabs.

Know allot of builders that use some type of block sealer after installation for that very reason. I personally don't, however nothing wrong with it I can think of. :)

i know im considered a ol timer, but inmy day i had this problem on a engine that had been run pretty hard, ha a OL TIMER tell me to use copper coat on both side of gasket and a good thread sealant i did and no more problem. and now i do it on all builds. no more problems.
