Ohio crankshaft

Any experiences with Ohio crankshaft? good, bad????

garyd 03-24-2008 07:43 AM

I bought a 3.562" stroke crank from them some yrs ago and it took alot of mallory metal to balance it. Mine was 5140 materal.
My 2 cents

OC had a lot of bad stuff there for awhile when they first started getting going but now they seem to be one of the better places to buy from. I know lots of people who use there stuff and love it.

ok thanks for the feed back, I am looking for a steel BBF crank and can't afford a $3k Bryant.

I have a 540 rotating assembly from them and have had no problems so far.

ohio crank

I have bought two of their unassembled bbc shortblock kits and had good luck.

Tod74 03-24-2008 03:54 PM

I bought mine unassembled also. I have heard horror stories after I bought mine about their cranks being off...but I checked every journal of mine with micrometers and they were all within a tenth or so of each other. Very good finish too, especially for the money spent. Rods were ok...measured good but didn't look quite as nice as some other h beams I've had in the past.

bigcrunch 03-25-2008 04:55 AM

Thanks for the feedback, I heard in the past they had problems with crank finish and journal size issues.
I called and asked if they can do a BBF shortblock, with center 3 caps converted to 4bolt. Waiting on a call back, I hope they can produce.

i bought a 44lbs 383 crank from Ohio to put in my dirt track car. My engine builder said it was as nice a piece as any other "budget" crank he's had.

I'll find out this weekend how it runs :D
