smokey ram
Can anybody tell me if $300 is a good price for a smokey ram intake. A friend of mine has one it has a single 4 top. I'm building a big block but I might build a small block street cruiser later. Is it a good price? Thanks

Actually, that IS a pretty good price. There weren't a whole lot of 'em made as at the time, it was really sort of a high RPM manifold & there weren't a whole lot of RELIABLE 7-8k RPM SBC around.

I was told it was for low rpm motors. If it is good for high rpm's it should work pretty good on a 327 wouldn't you think.

If you look closely at it, it's not a whole lot different than the SBC x-ram of the day as I recall. . 1970 saw the elimination of multiple carbs in Trans-Am cars which is why it was developed & is so similiar. It's got a pretty large plenum, which we all know now those manifolds aare generally considered a "top-end" manifold. Would I run it in my car? Yes, if I had good compression (10.5:1 +) and a good cam & about 3:73 gears.
I ahd a x-ram on a 355 SBC years ago & it ran great, so I wouldn't hesitate about playing with a Smokey-Ram for the same reason..... |
I have a smokey ram for $250, if your interested send me a PM
