First Time In 5 years??

Jeez, just logged in here and checked and according to the board search function I haven't made a post in here since back in 2013?? DAYUMN??

Was checking to see what was different on RJ cuz I'm thinking about putting an ad up to try to sell the Studebaker. I'm 72 years old now and haven't raced since I sold that Undercover dragster I had back in the spring of 2015. Studebaker hasn't been driven in a couple of years now. I do fire it up once in a while just to say I did but at this point I've pretty much lost interest in it.

Ennywho, saw a few names I remember from the past here. Good to see others still around.

Laters,

Ken

Yup, I've been a member here long enough to remember the a**hole that ran me and a bunch of others off. Zetagoat was his username and if you look up "pure a**crack" in the dictionary you'd see his picture.

A bunch of us left here and started another board, which ran until I shut it down to membership in February 2013. Seems that one a**hole couldn't get along with the other a**holes. ;-)

Ennywho, I can remember some of the good times here as well and there were some good guys here.

Same here, used to sign on 3-4 times a day. Now every 2 months or so.

I have tried to get people to come back since I became a moderator a while ago, still trying...

Swiley383 04-28-2018 06:27 AM

I only a couple times a week now used to be a a few times a day. Just not much happening anymore. I am going to try to get the nova cranked this weekend.

Well, I put the Studebaker up for sale here just now. Need to get some money out of it because when you get older, (I'm 72 now) it costs a LOT more just to live. That and I had to put a new roof on the house plus replace the entire heat pump system back in February and March. That set me back almost $11,000!! [/shock]

And since that happened my Medicare part B supplement insurance went up 35% in one shot plus my electric bill has gone up an additional $25 a month even though that new heat pump is twice as efficient than the old one??? WTF moments indeed!!

And then there was the 2% increase we got in Social Security on January 1st and be damned if they didn't take $21 of that $22.60 increase when they raised my regular Medicare coverage premium from $109 to $139 a month?? Another WTF moment?

Ennywho, enough whining for now, and, wish me luck selling "The Studebaker"! I'll probably check in here a little more often now that I've got the car for sale here.

Oh, and you can also find me over on the Speedtalk forum, same username down in the politics, religion and current events section giving liberals/progressives/socialists hell daily!!

Heh, here I am again!! Thought I had the Studebaker sold to a guy in New Zealand but I got cold feet when he started playing around with his payment method. Speaking of which, are you aware that a wire transfer of money can be RECALLED? When I spoke with my banker back a few months ago about selling the car to a New Zelander he cautioned me and that was when I found out about the RECALL. Seems my bank had to recall TWO wire transfer payments earlier this year!

I told the guy "down under" that the car was for sale for US DOLLARS CASH payable when it was picked up at my house. Never heard another word from him after that.

Ennywho, with every election that goes by it seems that Virginia is turning more and more BLUE so I'm kinda in the mode of selling stuff getting ready to move to Texas! ;-)

Hi Ken, good luck on selling you Studebaker. Good looking car.

Hey thanks!! That car and I go back a LONG way, all the way back to 1989 when I pulled it out of that junk yard in Danville, Va.

I've got 4 guys following it but no takers...............yet. I'll probably have to drop the price some to get it gone. Need to wait and see how it all shakes out.

ken0069 01-06-2019 07:22 AM

Well, here I am again. Had a "nibble" from a guy in Alabama before Christmas and I let the ad run out just before then and told the guy that the car was still for sale but the ad wouldn't be back up until after the first of the year.

Put it back up a few days ago and got a hit from a guy in New Mexico? Dayumnit! Where are all the buyers on the East coast?? Ennywho, he's requested more pictures so I'll check with him to see what else he wants to look at.

Wish me luck ............................again!

fla1976 01-27-2019 04:16 PM

Good luck again.

ken0069 03-18-2019 03:46 PM

Humm, guy in Alabama called me again two weeks ago. We talked for about half an hour and he wanted pics of the trailer. So I told him to send me an Email again so I'd have his address and I never heard back from him either?? DYUMNIT? I must be doing something wrong cuz that's about 4 guys that have "seemed" like they were potential buyers but turned out to just be tire kickers. It's almost been a year now since I first advertised it on here and NO ONE has even made me a counter offer on it?

Ennywho, I've got a couple of things I'm going to do to the car and then try to get it back on RJ in mid April.

ken0069 12-05-2021 10:31 AM

Here I am again guys. The Studebaker is back up on RJ............AGAIN! And believe it or not, that car is pretty much still sitting the same spot it was in when I was trying to sell it before. I did put some fresh gas in it and fired it up back in September so it's ready to go to someone else's shop but the car hasn't been driven in probably 3 or 4 years now. Just hope I can find it a new home soon!

Oh, and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

ken0069 02-07-2022 05:36 AM

Well, I'm back to report (with mixed emotions) that the Studebaker appears to be headed to a new home down in North Carolina. The buyer was here Saturday and we went over some things he was concerned about and after that I signed the titles for the car and the trailer and he paid me in CASH! He's suppose to come back this coming weekend with two pickup trucks, one to haul stuff and tow the trailer and the other just to haul the other stuff I'm giving him with the car.

It's been a long road since I finished it and started driving it back around 1991/92 and I have many fond memories that I'll likely carry with me to my grave.

Having said that, I guess you guys probably won't see me in here any more.

Thanks!!
