blinded me with science

just had to post; placed my pinion and races in the freezer with
grease, and then baked the bearings in the oven and whaala,
it slipped right on without the use of my press, and the races
went on with a couple of taps, science :P

Does your wife know?
Mine would have a fit.

Good tip, thanks.

my wife smelt the grease and told me to take a bath,
what she does not know won't hurt her 8)

I know a guy who got some kind of bake on coating for his headers and he did it in his wife's oven...stunk up the house...and yes she had a fit, lol

Freezing

Works when installing the ring gear on a flywheel. Chill the flywheel and heat up the ring gear. It drops right on , then let it set and return to ambient temperature.

When putting on rear axles bearings on a ford axle my dad use to take the axle out to the bulk propane tank and blast the axles with propane. When it turned frosty white he just slipped the bearing right on,it only took a few seconds! The first time I saw that I was like  what the hell, lol! But that was 20 some years ago when he had the service station.

nofear, with the smell of chemicals (propane), and the the theory
applied (frosty white axels), and being just a kid, your ol' man
blinded you with science!
