At what point should you consider using aftermarket main caps for a 550-600 h.p. 383 sbc?

at the point when you start pooring money in the motor
and don't want it spitting out a rod, a small block throwing
600 hspwr, get the equipment made to take the torque 8)

Look and see what GM rates a stock cap at in there catolog and go from there.
