53 Chevy steering column question?
 

My son bought a Total Cost M2 front end for his 53 chevy 210 it has a standard rack setup on it. What I want to do is use a older steering column with a factory shift indicator (automatic) on it. that I can hook up to his 700-R4 trans as he doesn't want a floor shifter.

Has anyone done this and if so what kind (make/model/year) did you use and how did you modify it to work? Money is tight on this build and after market columns are out of this world, price wise!
