can't wait for the track to open and try shifting it at 7200 or ????, car went 11.07 shifting @ 6800 rpm, hope to get it in the 10's this year.

What do you have for a cam and heads? That'll determine where you should shift.......

bigmack 01-24-2010 07:00 PM

the heads are pro actions 235 208 int 160 exh the cam is comp 630-630 solid roller, but i also have a comp 675-645 solid roller which one would you go with. oh yea the trans is p/g 1.76 ford 9" with 4.71 gears 28x10.5x15's m/t slicks. in a 87 camaro around 3200 pounds.

@ 3200lbs i'd stay with the cam you have in it .630/.630 for the low end torque.

I would guess with 235 heads and if your cam will rev to 7300-7500 rpm, that is were these heads would have to be to take advantage of that big a head........my 383 sbc with afr 210 heads peaked on horse power at 6800 rpm and my camshaft is good to 7400 rpm.........so i shift out of first gear at 6700 rpm with my glide and go through the traps at 7000 rpm.....works for me, but if i have 235 heads i would have to rev it way higher to gain anything
