Fuel filter location

OK, this may be a stupid question, but here goes... My girlfriend has a 2004 Chevy Malibu LX. 3.8 V6. I was going to change the fuel filter, got one for it and for the life of me could not find the thing on the car. Anyone know where it may be? I crawled under this thing for an hour, lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Could it not be in the tank? Do you know where the pump is located?

That's not a stupid question - but it is a stupid place to put a fuel filter, dam engineers!!!!!
The way I see it, a engineer caught a mechanic screwing his wife and ever since then he has been screwing us!
