It might if your running a big small block with tiny heads. Otherwise no.

It all depends on how much the motor likes RPM if it is revving past it's power now then the 4.88 I would think would pick it up. I have went to 5.13's over my 4.88's and lost basically a tenth and I have big heads small ci.

ditto..ya gotta know about where the motor makes it power..TQ and HP..if you Do not know then you have to feel it in your butt...just like shifting from low to high gear..you can feel when the car stops pulling..same thing in high gear..i do not run electric shifters i like to manual shift myself..but this is my perference maybe not the most practical...even if you have to run the car thru the traps a little ways to see when it noses over..then do it..just make sure you have a long shut down area..i have done this a few times in several of my older rides that i had no idea what the sweet spot was on the motor and current gear set up..

also you mentioned a 32inch tall tire..do not get caught up in the numbers on the side wall...the roll out or ( circumference/growth) of the tire is the real issue here....an example: i had 14x32's my last set of tires with a 102 roll out...i now have 17x33's with a 101 roll out..so the 17x33's are actually a shorter tire on the big end...
