whats the down side to a cross drilled crankshaft

im in the market for a 427 bbc gm crankshaft for an 8000 rpm application and need to know if the non cross drilled truck cranks were a better choice than the cross drilled nitrided gm hot rod cranks .

I'm not a GM guy but you might mention what kind of vehicle it's going in, and if carbed or power added.

cross drilled crank

They tend to weaken the crank a little, mopars use a full groove bearing but I think chevies prefer a 1/2 groove due to the fact they tend to oil the top end first, just my opinion

Cross drilling thro's oil out away from the bearings.( thats an old trick to crossdrill) People I know DOMT do it anymore!!DR.
