Welding on rollcage

I just bought a car that is certified to 8.50 and noticed a weld holding the bottom door hinge on the drivers side is cracked at the roll cage. My question is does this have to be tig or mig welded. I noticed the door sagging real bad when opening and you have to really lift up on the bottom of it to close it. Just want to make sure it is welded correctly due to needing to be recertified next month.

Thanks
Mike

if it is m/s then mig weld will work BUT if C/M then has to be tig ONLY

How do I determine which one it is?

mig weld chromemoly

You can absolutly MIG weld chromemoly. Uniweld makes a chromemoly wire for mig welders. It is not a bad idea to stress relieve after welding using oxy-acetylene to 1100 degrees. Move the torch around to avoid getting a hot spot.
When you re-certify they will only look at the quality of your welds and check tube thickness.

I need to make my last post clear. you can only tig on the structural part of your cage. I don't beleive the door mount hinge is considered structural.
The rule book does state that tig/heliarc only on chromemoly cage.

Thanks for the information. I am going to get a friend of mine to tig it for me.
