Brad Penn or VR1

which oil would you use in your flat tappet motor:Brad Penn 10-30 semi or 10-30 VR1{VV205} or valvoline conventional, not for street use,{VV850} 10-30 and why?I've noticed the ZDDP is Lower on the BP then the Valvoline

We use the Brad-Penn 20/50 for cam break in only as its sold as a racing oil and the 10/30 oil I believe is not a racing oil Correct?

oil

You are right on the money, Hink. Brad Penn oil is highly recommended by most camshaft manufacturers.

I will be using the 30 wt breakin BP oil,but was just curious, for regular racing use, which of the two oils would you use?

b/p oil

I have used the brad penn 20/50 in my alky engines and also vr1 20/50. Seems to me that the b/p oil does not break down as fast as vr1. bearing life has been extended since using b/p oil. I am running the same r/m bearing 3 seasons drag racing on 1/8 mile.

Just a note, Joe Gibbs has a new oil. A bit pricey but has more zinc. He also has a break-in oil.
