how much to fit?
 

I`ve got a set of file to fit piston rings from totalseal, It`s my first time using then.Anyway I put a second compression ring in a cylinder use an old piston to square it up about a half inch in the bore and it has about a 1/4" overlap? I new I am supposed to file some off but that much? Can`t get a hold of anybody at totalseal today!!!!!

Definately not the right ring for your cylinder bore, check to see the numbers on on the ring box and check them against the Total seal part numbers on their web site. You should not have too file more than .010 on any ring set.
