ladder bar install problem
im installing a set of competition engineering ladder bars and hit a problem. the front safety loops on the end of the bars are bolted on with two small bolts and locknuts. these little f@#$%^s are hitting the crossmember bracket. did i do something wrong? do i need to use washers beside the heim joint to space it farther apart before permamently welding the brackets to the crossmember? does any of this make sence?

two?? how far in do you have the rod end,s adjusted, and have you welded the crossmember in yet?
|
two what?
cross member is not in yet. ends are adjusted as directions say to do it. |
ooohhh i get it now, two questions, dont mind me its bean a day.
|
no prob :) you maybe able to adjust the rod end's in or out enough, to avoid interference prob with the bracket, then place the crossmember in a location to get the wheel base you want, watch thread depth on rod ends. good luck.

the in and out length is not the problem. its side clearance. those nuts and bolts are too close to the inside of the crossmember brackets. they stick out farther than the swivel end of the heim joint.

post a pic

ya i'll have to get a pic tomorrow.

C.E. sends a couple of washers that you need to put on either side of the Hiem joints. These are your spacers for the bolt clearance. They are about 1/8 to 3/16 thick. And yes you do need them if you want to run the safety loops. If you already welded you brackets on, you need to cut them off, move them out and reweld.

great thanks. thats what i want to hear. iread the directions and couldnt find anything that said this.
