closed vs. open chamber

what is the difference with closed vs. open chamber heads. wanting to use them in a mild big block chevy dragster. also where can i find a carb tray that is used for the air scoop ? going to use a single carb setup and the carb tray is setup for a dual carb. would trade someone for the single carb tray pan. thanks. going to do some drag racing this year. email coaching [email protected]. have no idea why this site does not use my name for log in.

Close chamber heads are smaller in CCs in combustion chamber, like low 100, and open chamber are like 119 CC. No one uses closed chamber heads for racing anymore, but it also depends on what the pistons are sized for. Not many modern pistons available for closed chamber heads, but if pistons are already in shortblock and are for closed chamber heads, using open chamber heads will result in low compression.
