427 Big block
427 Big block- just the short block, steel crank, steel rods, JE 12.5 pistons, 30 over, oil pan and balancer- machine shop fresh- is this worth a trade for my garrett gta42 75 mm turbo or should I just buy the short block outright, sell the turbo and build an all out engine for my car?

Jordan, In my opinion I'd lose any thought of ever using that turbo, your in over your head with that thing, trade it, sell it, do whatever it takes but move on my friend.
I'd definetly trade for the 427, it sounds like a great swap. Stick a healty roller cam, somewhere in the mid 600 range, set of good flowing heads, victor jr intake and a 1050 dominator and you'll be pushing the 700Hp mark easy. By the way, whatever happened to the 454 deal? JMO> Cp |
Well I do not know what a turbo costs but those pistons are not cheap...if they are the SRP'S they are about 600 bucks..not sure about the race pistons JE makes.

the main thing to realize about pistons when comparing srp/je is that srp is the 4032 grade aluminum.even though they are forged like the je pistons which are 2618 grade, the 2618 grade is better suited for nitrous applications, ive heard from other posts srp pistons would be reaaaal stressed behind a 200 shot of nitrous, all hear say, but i bought my 2618 je pistons in 2005 for about 600 bills and put 275 shot at em and motor still runs
