correct rear gear

I have purcased a new car and want to know what gear would be better. The car is a square tube chassis Camaro that will weigh right at 2450 lbs with me in it, the motor is a sbc 383 stroker with about 650hp and I'm using a power glide with a 1.82 firts gear and a 55oo stahl converter..The rear is a narrowd 9 inch with a 31x10.5x15 tire..What gear would be best..??
Thanks

Kinda need to know redline on the motor...

But, I'm thinking 4.88s or 5.13s.

I usually don't go any higher than 6800, shift at 6400

I would think where you'll be racing most would be a factor.
I.E> 1/4 verses 1/8?
If the 1/8 I would start out with a 513 and see what the motor likes, maybe up to a 538 or down to a 488 remember the more motor you have the less gear you need, but likewise the less gear you have the harder on parts it will be.
In the 1/4 I'd start out with a 430, or 456 and go from there to see what the motor likes and where the rpms are in the traps. But what do I know.
Goodluck, Charles
