Holley Squirter Check Vales sticking, Alcohol
Anyone ever have the check valves below the squirters stick on an alcohol Holley?
Rebuilt a alcohol 950 for a friend and it has come back twice with the front squirter not working. Replaced the check valve during rebuild and again after the first time. What's the cure? It's one of those polished all aluminum carbs without any protective coating on the metal surfaces. |
See if you can find a brass check valve to put in it.

holley
I just got some this week.
Do you think the shiny aluminum carbs are bad for alcohol because they are just tumbled and have no protective coating? |
Yes they are more susceptible to corrosion than the zinc bodies. Having them coated helps...

I have a similar problem on an E-85 carb with a Proform main body. Where do you find those brass check valves?

Brass check valves in and still sticking. Guess I need to ditch the Proform main body and get a Holley with some kind coating or plating. I will remove the brass check valves because I don't want to be beating on the brass. Thank you though for the help from BigBlockMark.
