wrecks to riches

on sunday on espn they have a show called "wrecks to riches" where
barry white speed shop renavates an old car and sends them to
auction, with complete make over with sheet metal, crate motors,
crate rear ends, etc...this last show had them dealing with a 64' nova,
they made it into a 60' street/strip car, w/flames, 427 blown, currie
rear, full roll bar, custom front tube chasiss, the car ended up like
brand new. But, when they went to fit the rear 10" tires, they did not
fit, and i was wondering if they were going to backhalve or minitub,
its like they did not even think of the tires not fitting, what did they
do, they grinded the leafsprings, and cut the inner well lip and
and placed a hyd-jack in the well and pushed it out, the
rim had so much back space on it the rim looked like a hub cap.
but after all the cars they have done, all the pros that work on the
car, no one thought they would maybe minitub? or to check for
tire clearence? he wanted 50k for it and the high bid was 42k, he
trailered it and went home 8)

Yeah I watched the rerun of it yesterday. That guy is a jerk in my book. They build street rods most of the time. Don't have a clue on a drag car. I think it ran 10.60's, should've ran high 9's easy. I wouldn't have them build me one. A $1000.00 car and $49,000.00 more to finish it. JMO

Not everybody can be Chip Foose.

The reason they didnt backhalf it,is because they didnt backhalf cars in the 60's they ran the biggest tire they could fit.

i just thought since they made a custom tube front chasiss and
did all the tunnels in sheet metal, and i don't think they did a
front chasiss like they did in the 60's they could have aleast checked
on the tire clearence, and mini tubbed, jmo

I watched one of their shows where they put a blower on an engine and couldn't get it to start , they didn't take the tape seal off the bottom of the blower before thet bolted it to the intake , took them all day to figure it out,,,,I'm impressed
