Aviation Fuel in a high comp engine

I have a 415 sbc engine That has about 12.5 /1 comp. I would like to run it on the street and wondered if aviation fuel would be ok in it. I have been told yes and no. I have never used it but it is a lot cheaper than race fuel. :?

About 14 years ago I lived 1 mile from an airport. I used to run aviation fuel 100LL (100 octane low lead) in a 13 to 1 BBC. Never had a bit of problem with it. Now I did have to go up (I think ) 2 jet sizes on my carb. Since 9-11 I don't know if they will still sell it to the public. If it's available to you, I wouldn't be afraid to run it in a 12.5 to 1 motor.

Fuel

I used to run it as it was cheaper than race gas and ran without problems. It is still avaiable, but is harder to find. Find a small private airport, they usually have it. The airport here uses Shell Fuels.

It'll run fine, but the octane is not tightly controlled, in most cases it's only guarenteed to be over 102, but it is illegal for someone to sell for street use.

Gas

Bottom LINE!
Its FINE,i also use to run it ALL the Time in my 468"Chevelle back in the Late 70's Ealy 80's.
BUT.....................?
I ALWAYS would add some Type of Leaded Fuel,or Lead Additive. Its VERY DRY.

Still not the one I was looking for, someone took the time to explain what was missing in the stuff that makes it no good for us. I looked earlier today again and still couldnt find it. I do know a local used some and switched to torco 116 and picked up over a tenth 1/4
