BATTERY WIRE SIZE

WHAT SIZE WIRE SHOULD BE USED FROM TRUNK TO ALTERNATOR?

TS1955 07-23-2010 06:14 PM

I used a 10 ga. wire on mine.

I ran 8 gauge on mine, but 10 would be a minimum I would think.

8-10 K&R suggest 10 on the wiring kits that come with them. I've always used 10 anyways without issues.

Ive used Welding Wire with success for years now.

How many amps does the trunk draw ?
Any constant HEAVY loads from the trunk or are they light and periodic loads ?
Are you running an On/Off switch between the trunk and battery ?
If so, does that switch have an indicator light and what color ? Blue is best.
