Dodge ram lift
 

Hi I have a 1997 Dodge ram 1500 sport it has a 4" susp. lift and I want to add a 4" body lift and get bigger tires. From what I understand I have 5" back space on my rims now and need to go to a 4" back space so I can turn all of the way. Does anybody have a reccomendation for how big of a tire I can get ???? Thanks for your time !!!

you'll find more info from some 4x4 forums but to answer you question i'll try to help first off do you have a 2wd or 4wd? what size tires do you have now? do not exceed a 3" body lift for saftey and liability issues. also going to a 4" back space rim will pust the tire out and rub sooner. make sure you ubderstand the back spacing properly. 35" tall tire would be the size i'd recomend with the suspenion and the 3" body. if you have a 6" and the 3" body you can go 37"

It is a 4 wheel drive with 33's on it now. and 4" susp. lift. The only rub at this time is when turning very sharp on the front susp. arms. I want to avoid this in the future I also do NOT want to cut the front fender or bumper.

lifting is what i do for a living and the 3" body would be the way to go to fit 35" tires. i own a 2500 hd with 37" and a toyoya tacoma lifted also and the tires rub when turned all the way when you go in a drive way, thats the nature of the beast. but no tire damage, good luck

i had i 96 2500 with 10" lift and 42" swampers never rubbed but also never off roaded either. my 2 cents

mine were 16.5x12 center dish. if your going to run a very big tire you need to use a wheel as close to center dish as you can to help the bearings. dodge is well known for poor bearing setup in the frontend
