Help!How to remove a sleeve from a aluminum block?
 

I have a SBC bowtie aluminum block and need to remove some of the sleeves with out tearing them up, Any opinions on how to do this ? Thanks guys for the Help.........

i think you have to cut them out, i'm not 100% but i don't think you can save them. good luck.john

i think aluminum is a lot different than steel , i think aluminum is a tighter tolerance, than steel jugs or block, so pressing them out might be tough
unless its a top fuel- i have watched them get tore down ,they tear them down every race,and the sleeves on them just slide out
dont quote me -lol its been a long time since i have seen one tore down
i dont know why they dont show it in depth on the speed channel ect...

Get a big slide hammer and build a plate to hook on the bottom of the sleeve. The put the block on some sort of a propane burner. Heat the block for 5 minutes or so and slide your puller in and pull it out. It may take a few trys but eventually it will come out without damaging the sleeve.

I put my Donovan 700 in our paint oven at the shop. After an hour or two of heat soaking, they slid right out of the block by hand. They go in just as easy.
