400 sbc questions, all subjects

Hey guys i got alota questions and am taking all advise. First of all i am building a 406ci sbc, its a 509 block. The purpose of this engine is pump gas street/strip, 1989 camaro with 3.73 and th350 2800-3000stall, looking to get sumwhere hopefully into high or mid 11s. The parts i have now is the stock 509 block and a set of Brodix Track 1 heads that i picked up for less that 1/5 of the original price. The heads have 2.02 1.60 valves and have been milled down, bought them from machine shop said about 58cc chambers, and have had some port work done. NOW here goes the questions.
What should i do as far a crank and rods. when this engine is done its done maybe a 150 shot of nitrous but other than that it is what it is. Can i get by with sumthing like scat 900 crank and scat I-beam 4340 rods. Im looking at 6500 rpms max. Im on a tight budget but i dont want to scatter it all over the place.
Next is pistons, im looking at forged pistons even with the extra expense, im looking at around 11:1 compression, is that ok on pump gas and can i get 11:1 with flat tops with the small champers?
Next is Cam im was thinking around 276 adv dur or maybe a little bigger with sumthin around 500 to 525 lift so it will run pretty good on the street and have the rpm range i want with good low end. Opinions?
Now im looking for misc stuff you guys wanna tell me. Im havin it built by a respectable machine shop that builds circle track engines in the area thats y im getn ur guys advise cause i looking for more of a strait line car on the street. Can i get into the 11's with what im looking at. Thanks everybody im gona watch close so if u have anymore questions ill be around to answer them.

I don't know what the car weighs, but i think you can get by with a cast steel crank, i would however change out the rods to "H" beams, i think they are a little stronger. On the pistons if you're going spray it i would definately go to forged pistons. Probe make a 2618 piston that can be bought for around $400.00, flattops will get you close to 11.00 to 1 with the small chambers. Can you get into the 11's with this combo??, i think so if the car weighs under 3500lbs without nitrous with an 850 carb and a torquer or airgap manifold. You may need more stall in the converter, maybe 3500.

i agree h beams r cheap on ebay.get the 4340 cheapie like hawks or cat.plenty strong for your application.

forged pistons and no regrets.make sure ring gap is a lil bigger with nitrous.

call comp cams

crankshaft is a what can u afford!cast might be a stretch.see what cnc-motorsports.com has.they always have specials!flatlanderracing is another good one.

vic jr with a plate 150 shot with all else equal should land you in high tens with a lil luck.if you went roller with cam then no prob

Stick with an I-beam, Scat, Callies, Eagle, Howard. Shy away from the e-bay cheapies, you want ones with quality machine work and bolts. Same goes for the crank, much better machine work on the name brands. You don't want to buy them twice when it breaks or have to re-machine.

I like the I beams also. I did get a set of the Hawks 6 inch h beams off feebay earlier this year though and they were extremely nice for the price. They have held up great in a dirt drag truck so far...

I would recommend the Scat 4340 I-beam with the 7/16 cap screw they are about $250 and rated at 700hp. I have a set in a 377 now and have had no issue's. I recommend comp cams 306S cam it has 260 dur and .555 lift powerband is 3-7,000. Great Cam and its not a roller so it keeps the cost down. also that 377 has the scat 9000 series crankshaft too. 8)

You should be able to run 11.80's to 11.90's falling out of a tree with a JUNK YARD 350 and a decent solid lifter cam. A 400 plus C.I. and your heads better run low 11.00's to 10.80's. A 150 shot better put the car in the 9's. If not I would be embarrassed and sell every thing  . Suggestion on headers, small blocks will like a 1 x 3/4 dia primary tube :D ..
