Holley Dominator 4500
What causes gas to drip from the primary venturies. It is dripping so much that it will killl the engine unless you work the throttle to keep it running.

The needle and seat may be sticking, dirt in the seat,or the float is too high
|
I'll check that out again. Air bleed size have anything to do with it? Also running about 9psi fuel pressure.
|
9 lbs might be too much fuel pressure, try taking it down to 7 lbs,
9 lbs may be blowing the needle off the seat |
Plugged air bleeds will cause it as well.

We have had the same problem on our 4500 doms
First thing to chek is the bolster air bleeds, If they are clogged then it will send a high vacume suignal to the bolster. 2nd thing is that the throttle plates are not adjusted correctly. Thus all the vacume is being pulled thru the primary throats. Here is how I adjust them correctly. start with an adjustment on the air bleed screws. We start at the standard 1=1/2 turns out for a base line. back down the secondary adjustment, ( butterfly) till the set screw barley touches, now adjut the primary to 1/2 to one turn in. start the car. If the car canot idle at all, then turn in the primary till it barely idles. adjust the secondary till idel comes up a bit, say 1/2 turn , now they should be set as close to even as possible. readjust the primary 1/4 turn then secondary 1/4 turn evenly till your required rpm is acheived. you will see the dripping will be gone. along with this you will have to adjust the idle mixture screw to acheive good throttle response. Remember the range on those jets do not go more than 2 1/2 turns out. AL |
Dropped pressure to 7.5. Adjusted both plates. CURED!!! Thanks to all replies.
