Cadillac 429 deck height

Does anyone know the standard OEM deck height of a 1967 Cadillac 429 cid block. This engine had been previously machined, as it is +.030" over, and there is a .017" difference in deck heights. Thanks

Yes, but this is not uncommon with GM blocks. Someone has been into this engine, but we don't know if they machined the deck surfaces. GM's are by far the worst machined blocks of all the manufacturers. We have seen blocks off as much as .025" front to back, side to side. In the big blocks, the cam bearing bores and lifter bores are usually bad also.

Thats not a big deal, unless you have such large engine your cam tollerances are massive. We have ran domed pistons on one side of a spec motor and flat tops on the other side with no issues.
