crank shaft question
 
i have a stock steel crank shaft can i have it machined in to a stroker crank

u have to buy a crank with a bigger stroke

Acutually you can off set grind Chevy cranks for a little more stroke.
Take a 355 (+.030 350) off set grind it .090 and use small journal rods and you get 364 cubic inches.
Take a 468 (+.060 454) off set grind it .090 and use small block rod journal and you get 478 cubic inches.
The down side is special pin placement (compression height) but when we were running class (weight / cubic inches) it was a small advantage that was legal.

WOW !..Weight vs CI.....now thats one you haven't heard of in a while.

to me that was real racing.....and 468ci was considered HUGE MOTORS. :D

with stroker cranks being able to be purchased for as little as a few hundred or so why??? just me maybe
