It could run low 11's, maybe even 10's. Obviously a lot of factors will contribute to that though. 3890lb 69 Chevelle, 496, 9.7:1, mildly ported 781's, 240ish, .580 lift solid cam, Perf. RPM air gap, Quick fuel 850, 10 inch converter, 3.55 gears, drag radials theu 3 inch ex, all the way out the back, runs 11.20's at 122.

Figured I would give you guys a update. First run off the trailer , left at a idle and ran a 11.96 at 119. Track got shut down. Went back the next weekend , the weather was in the mid 90's very high humidity. First run was 11.66 at 119mph. I just switched from 26 in slick to 28's and havent got to run the car yet. Thanks for all the help throughout my build.

Good to see there is harmony in the RJ crib again. I don't know anything about those heads, so I kept my mouth shut. Besides, I have "Corvette" heads... don't need anything else.

Sounds like in good fall air on a good track, it will go low 11's easily. Mid 90's and super humid, obviously is no good for good et's. 119mph, will turn into 122-123, maybe a bit faster with tuning. With that mph, you could hit a high 10 even, if you got the car to launch good.

For the record, we have built 2 496's this year, with those heads. Both sets were ported, one set a bit more than the other, but not what I would call radical porting. One was a hyd roller deal, made 700hp and 630tq on pump gas. The other was a solid roller deal, on pump gas, made 740hp and 650tq. Neither engine was set on kill.

Yep I'm happy with it . Very nice to drive on the street (good manners). I think it has a lot more in it with some good air. Thanks alot guys.

Going from a 26 tall tire to a 28 incher its gonna kill some ET so expect that.

You can compensate for that and pick some ET by Footbraking/stalling the car up as high as you can without pushing thru the lights.
