TheYellaBrick 11-11-2013 03:28 PM

Yer gonna get that from ALL women unless they are ALSO diehard GEARHEADS .... been through a BUNCH !

Swiley383 11-11-2013 03:56 PM

Got say I got lucky my wife dose not complain about my car talk or gun talk that much except for once when I forgot she was laying down with a migraine and started my race car. I felt the look of death before I saw her. I am really spending a lot of time in the shop now that I started reloading ammo. She tells me it gives her time to read without me bothering her.

shybx1969 11-11-2013 04:11 PM

My father in law issa gearhead also, she just never was all that interested, her mom is the same way..haha I just cant watch game shows, singing,dancing...its gotta be something you can learn about.or sports. :D Now that racing season is over i can plan and talk with all my buddies.. Shes a good wife dont get me wrong...give her 100 bucks too shop shes as fine as frogs hair. :)

I am a lucky man, my wife is a gearhead and she watch's none of that fufu crap! We watched the NHRA finals yesterday live on ESPN3.com, all afternoon and she was just as glued to it as I was all day.

Swiley383 11-11-2013 05:18 PM

My wife has always wanted a Harley when I first met her here plan was to but a Harley when she paid off her jeep. Instead by then we had gotten engaged and were house hunting. The subject still comes up when we pass one one the road. I have always wanted a Harley too just never have been able to afford one.

This is how it goes for my wife:

"Honey, it is the thing that sits on top of the motor"... "ya know, it sticks out of the hood & you see it on top".... you can't miss it....

SCREW IT. "Just get me the Summit Gift Card"... I will but it myself for Christmas.

TheRabbit 11-13-2013 03:16 PM

Ha Ha. Don't even try to explain it to her. It's not that they can't understand. It's they DON'T WANT TO UNDERSTAND what you're telling them!
Just grin and bare it and watch TV with her for a little while and tell her how much you enjoy it!!! lol
I'm not actually smart enough to follow through with it (either)

oldandtired 11-14-2013 05:27 AM

My wife wanted to know when I was going to give Phillips' screwdriver back.

Actually just kidding, she is great at helping. She helped me R&R a motor in my PU truck and is always there when I pull the hood or front end off the Vette. She has learned all the wrench sizes and styles as well as sockets. Since my son moved out, I can't do with out her.

mouse1972 11-14-2013 06:11 AM

I have a great wife as well. She has been a gearhead since the day I met her. She is always available when I need her help in the shop.

Could not do without her.

Well said Wabb. They want to relate to things, just not getting down the weeds about things like lift & duration & why it exists for example; but I can tell her that Blake Shelton sings nice & she thinks I care about her show.

I'm pretty lucky too. My wife might not be able to rebuild a carb but she will help with anything I need on the car. Hey Mark, maybe you can get Missy to show her how.

Guess I have it good for the most part. Wife finally told me after MANY years she does not the LONG desert races because she can not see the cars all the time and likes the 2 to 300 mile loop races. But really likes the short course races.
And drags me out to the salt flats in Sept for the WOS for the past 5 years. (well, 2013 canceled due to weather so we went to Reno)
Sold my class 5 unlimited baja and now building a car to run the salt.

Mike

TheYellaBrick 12-07-2013 10:19 AM

Yeah, I have salt fever also, We'll be on the salt with 'the YELLA BRICK' in '14 !
