Standing forum issues

I figure its time to start this thread, we have been having issues with the forum since the end of last year. I hope the powers that be read this and give some feedback. Here is what I have noticed.

1. Newbies start dates are listing as 1969 and 1970

2. If I click the "Profile" tab at the top of the page, it takes me back to the Racing Junk main page. This used to be where you could put your personal info along with your Avatar picture.

3. Some people Avatars can be seen but most can not. No way to change my Avatar since I cant get to my profile.

I thought there was something else but I cant remember. Anybody else have issues please post them up.

I also have 1 request, any way we can link Youtube videos like we do pictures? That way we can actually see the video on the post instead of having to go to the Youtube website?

Thanks
:D

I agree Harbone something needs to be done. I think some of these problems might be why there is less traffic here than normal.

Can you imagine what a ghost town it will be once racing season starts.

TheYellaBrick 04-01-2013 04:43 PM

The other issue is spammers.
Yes at least some feedback of ANY kind from the Mods ????

oldandtired 04-02-2013 06:02 AM

Maybe someone should have to approve a new member.....

Not trying to be controlling, but something....

This LeBran and the 24 girl topic under Engines are a terrible waste of space and an insult to my intellinence.

Harbone 04-04-2013 12:48 PM

Something else I have seen on other forums, how about a "special projects" or "senior members only" section? This would be for members that have been on here for a certain amount of time or have a set minimum amount of posts (say 500?) before you can access that section.

Just a thought...

:D

limited access forum............just a thought but how would you 12 members keep it fresh?

zipper06 04-05-2013 08:00 AM

Ther's lot's of problems since RJ was sold i think the new buyers are just intrested in the money from the ads, and don't worry about maintence. This forum has almost never benn in RJ's intrest even in the past. I haven't seen anything this year from Tom, or is he no longer associated with the forum, BJ hasn't been around much either, maybe he's lost intrest also. Just us old die hards are on here for the most part. I do use the PM section almost daily and look at what's happening here on the forum, but like stated it's almost dead. i don't go to any other forums. I got a really bad virous earlier this week from the H.A.M.B. forum, took me hours to fix my computer (lucky i'm puter savvy). Maybe it's because i run Windows 7 instead of Google crome or one of the other browsers. But if this forum dies i guess i won't be looking anywhere else.

Zip.

I didnt mean the whole forum, just one section dedicated to "loyal members"...

TheYellaBrick 04-05-2013 04:18 PM

Other than the aforementioned 'issues' which REALLY are not THAT bad, there are so few newbys coming on that ANY interaction/information exchange/teachable moments/advise 'WE' can partake in, is VERY welcome. I do kinda miss the days of the regular TROLLS making their presence known though ! :P :P
There are a TON of faces I haven't seen hide nor hair of for quite some time. I realize that 'life' happens and folks will cycle through, but I sure do miss the wide variety of car folks we've had here to add to the field of knowledge. The group we still have has been added to with a couple of new and welcome, informative and CIVIL folks.
So until life 'happens' I'll still tag along with my bros !

It sure is slow around here these days.....we need the "LITTLEROD" gang back on here to get things going! :P

What would it take to take over the forum.
I didnt know that RJ had been sold oh well that answers alot of ?.

bjuice 04-08-2013 05:14 PM

I been here . I just stay Hidden as I sign on. I personally have stepped up as a coach at the YMCA..Trying to mentor some of these kids..You would be shocked with the Kids that have no role model in their Life.

As far as the IT side of things from the ownership side the last time I dealt with someone on that side when we had the Massive Influx of spammers a guy called me from California and explained the reason for it.

So Bone I do not have an answer for you on that one.

TheYellaBrick 04-08-2013 06:19 PM

Hiya Juice ! Good to see yer still breathin' and kickin' ! Our single parent society is really shameful. You stepping up and showing by example is MANLY in my book. Kudos.

Got a great deal on 1,000 rounds of .556 62 grain military issue green tip FMJ. also got 200 tracer .556 tracer rounds and 100 rounds 12 gauge tracers. fun fun fun. 8)

Bone you can try PJ. I contacted him on the last major flood of spammers and thats when he got me in touch with the CA guys or should I say they contacted me and explained the IT issue.

I would start with PJ and see if you get a response. If not give me a PM or text me and I will try and run it down.

Just to let many know I have never been able to control that kind of IT stuff that is driven from the classified section.

thanks

Harbone 04-10-2013 01:53 PM

I sent PJ a message with a link to this post. :)

Yeah I saw those vids on the dragon breath Rounds Looks like a roman candle on steroids. Lol.

bjuice 04-15-2013 07:24 AM

For you gun lovers out there. Pull up on you tube the sliding stock vid. I think you will be amazed at how this LEGAL bolt on can take your semi auto and make it capable of firing over 600 rounds a minute.
I know many of you come from places/states that do not have the pro firearm laws SC does. SC was one of the 1st states to adopt the CWP. Also the Castle law that spells out in bold letters that a person has the right to defend their home and property up to deadly force to prevent harm. Its understood in many places but SC spelled it out with a new dedicated law for that purpose only.

Many major gun manufactures such as Magpul etc.. Are considering SC as their new home.

I am a firm advocate of keeping law abiding citizens armed and informed !

Swiley383 04-15-2013 10:20 AM

I have seen those stocks. My plan before everything got messed up was to buy an AR after this past christmas just a plain jane one and build on it as I could afford. The slide stock was one of my goals, but now I can't afford one. ARs seem to be slowly becoming more avalible around here again and price coming down even slower.

Correct they are coming down for sure. If I can make a recommendation. The PSA M-4 AR-15 is IMO the best bang for the buck. Palmetto State Armory right here in SC. Its a true .556 NATO bore, heavy duty chrome lined barrell which is capable of shooting the higher grain AP rounds. Iron front sites and engineered to accomadate grenade launcher. The 16 INCH barrell is 1-7 twist and I find is a good length barrell for open and close quarter home defense.

Also dont let some idiots tell you that you can shoot .556 rounds in a .223 bore. WRONG !!although the rounds are same size physically the .556 creates more barrell pressure andwill ruin a .223 barrell

He sent me a reply last week saying he would look into it. Have not heard from him since... :?

Swiley383 04-17-2013 10:22 AM

I have heard the 223 and 5.56 before. I want an AR to fire both the one I was most likley to buy was a S&W M&P sport they were between $650 and 699 around here. DPMS also was one I had looked at I will look at the PSA for sure before I buy sounds like you really like that gun. The two things on the M&P sport I was not sure about was it dose not have a dust cover or a forward assist.

Yes I am partial to PSA because they are located in SC but they make a quality piece. You take it down for cleaning every part in the weapon is manufactured by PSA. You can buy a New PSA for $999 today and its complete with all you mentioned except any Fiber optics. I use BSA Red Dot optics very effective up to 100 yards... BSA is just as effective as the EO-Tech but 1/3rd of cost...For me anything over 100 yards that I want to be surgical with needs a magnifier

I looked at several DPMS but found nothing under $1400+. I will not pay that for a .556.

My next venture is the .308 or NATO .762X54
Very humbling weapon . No hidding from this one...

For the record I DO NOT consider any of these weapons we have mentioned as the first choice for home defense. Sport only. nothing beats a 12 gauge pump with either 00 or 000 buck.

You sound like my kinda guy Swiley ! What hand guns you like ? You into black powder ?

Might as well talk about something until we hear from PJ. LOL
