My little sister...

was born 13 years younger than me. My only sibling was born to my mother and step-father. She was a beautiful blond baby girl and I was a big part of her life until I turned 17 and moved out. My parents were not rich and the white trash way would be the best words to describe our life. My sister was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 6. It would be a big part of her life and also tear her body apart as she got older. She was a straight A student and was bound to go to college. When she turned 18 her lifestyle changed, she started running with the wrong crowd, got heavy into drugs and not keeping up on her insulin caused her to have huge gains and losses in weight which had bad affects on her 5 foot tall body. By the time she as 22 she has been arrested multiple times for shoplifting and drug possession. She served her first prison term at the age of 24. Her health was horrible, she needed a kidney by the time she was 25. I had went through all the testing to be a possible donor but her doctor said it would just be a waste of time. She had shunts placed in her body so they could do dialysis 2 times a week at the age of 26. She was in and out of prison 3 more times before she was 31. She had stolen from my parents and grandparent numerous times over the years and was forbidden to come near their homes. She was released on parole last December and was living in a half way house a hour away. I saw her last January for the first time in 3 years. She looked like a little old lady, hair falling out, missing teeth and her skin yellowed from missing her dialysis treaments. It made me cry when I left. She was found in her room Thursday night after missing her treatments earlier that day. She died alone and in despair just 2 months shy of the age of 33. RIP my little sister Shelly you are in a much better place now

Chris,
Sorry for your loss i'm sure it wasn't easy.
I too know about destructive behavior in the family. My son graduated from Sothern Il. University, majored in theater arts. Got an agent, played second city i Chgo. hung out with Chris Farley and friends, played in 4 or 5 movies small parts. Got into drugs and alcohol, couldn't control his appitate for alcohol, finally couldn't get any parts, his last movie was a bit part in MO Money, wound up being a waiter, darnk his self silly every nite after work. 6 yrs ago he had no job no money. My Ex. and his mother decided we would help him get to Las Vegas where she lived (we split the airfare) with the thougts she would be able to straighten him out. It worked for a couple months then he moved in with a friend, who was also an alcholic. 3 yrs ago i got a call he was in the hospital his liver shut down. So i rushed to Vegas, not knowing if i was going to a funeral or not. Luckly he came out of it but only has 20% liver fucation. The dr's told him he does'nt need a gun to commit suicide all he needs in 1 bottle of wine. He's been clean and sober since then. He was able to go back to work after 6 mos and works in the deli in one of the large super market chains in vegas. He had talent and could have made in movies (i think) but we all know you can't fix someone who doesn't want to be fixed no matter how smart the person is.

Harb, I just saw this today. I am sorry I did not notice it earlier. I knew the second I starting reading the post how it was going to end. I was like your lil sister for period in my life. I have sat in many group therapy sessions struggling alongside other addicts who either get clean, go to more institutions, or die. One thing we addicts grasp/understand: it is a battle of the flesh with addiction... hardest physical battle I have ever known. In the end, she is now at home spiritually. Some reach the point of no return & long term sobriety is not obtainable... our bodies change permanently from addiction too. She will not have another withdraw, or feel the bondage of that battle. I am sorry... she is indeed in a better place safe now. She IS that little girl you remember long ago before the wreckage. Live your days for her that she missed... say thanks to God for taking good care of her in her new life. I am truly sorry.

itsabird 04-26-2012 09:56 AM

Good man, harb.

outlaw256 04-27-2012 04:49 AM

ghustler, thats about as cold and callous as you can get. we have never had any problems between us but im glad we arent livin close to each other right now. im REALLY ANGRY that you would say something like that to a man that just lost someone he loved with all his heart.i know you dont care how i feel, dont blame you for that we arent friends.but to purposely hurt someone who is grieving is low. really shows your character.harbone is good people. there is no reason to throw shi- out there like that.we all have our crosses to bear. i hope yours isnt to heavy for you when its your turn to carry one.i truly do.i only wish you well but i think you owe harbone a im sorry.oh and remember this. your grandfather wouldnt have turn loose of the first dime if he truly didnt want to. but he had enough character and responcibility and love to take care of his own.are you mad because you didnt get any of the money grandpa worked for.

mopar1968 04-27-2012 05:01 AM

I agree outlaw, This should be the last straw for the Mod's to get rid of this idiot :!: :!:

Harbone 04-27-2012 05:15 AM

Ken I cant thank you and Mark enough for having my back. I read this yesterday right before I was leaving for my sisters funeral. I wanted to type a vicious reply but I have learned thats the kind of response that he is lookng for every time he comes on here and spews garbage from his mouth. I am not going to let him poison this post.

outlaw256 04-27-2012 09:06 AM

Ghustler:

THIS IS NOT THE PLACE OR TIME!!!! You were never invited to talk about this, talk to Chris, or about his sister. Be a man & walk away from here. You are absolutely shameful & disrespectful in the worst possible way. "Tact" is TOTALLY absent from your nature. Seriously STOP NOW. Go to another thread & insult someone else. You disgust me & you are lucky you can HIDE UNDER YOUR ROCK.

MODS: I am not sure if this thread can be locked or if a user can be restricted for such situations, but this situation is not helping anyone. I have never been against freedom of speech, but this is about as distasteful as a human being can get.

spib 04-27-2012 02:41 PM

Rigsby well said well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harbone 04-27-2012 02:53 PM

Thanks guys but please let it go, all you are doing is feeding his ego. I asked Brian to solve the problem. This is not how I want this thread to end...

No problem Harb. You are right. You are a gentleman. Although I am moved otherwise, I respect you too much to say another word in this situation. I will keep quiet & God bless your family right now.

I dont want this post closed either. I would hope that someone reads this and just maybe save someone in their life from the same demise as my sister. Let your kids reads this, if you know someone that has a drug problem do whatever you can to help them. I poured thousands of dollars into my little sister over the years and would give every last dollar I own to have her still alive today. Its not about the money, its about family. I am going to post up two pictures. I really want to do this so someone can see just what drugs can do to a beautiful person. The first pic is my sisters senior picture, she could have had it all. The second pic is her last mugshot. Keep in mind this is only 12 years after the first picture.

Scooter you are right, shes in God's hands now...

It's so sad our loved ones put their-selves through that...My oldest son comitted suicide by hanging 14 years ago....Even though he was only 13 years old...He got excellent grades at school and was liked by most of his classmates....It seems after investigation he was bullied by a few,, and I guess he could'nt take it anymore......My yougest has decided that heroin is his future and drug of choice...We all know where that's gonna go...I feel that Harbone66 is correct..It's about family...I too have spent a small fortune for his recovory but I'm approching retirement,, and can't let this drug addiction take me down too...Sorry for my hardend heart...It boils down to tough love....It kills me to point at the door and tell him to leave my house.....It's his addiction not mine.......Dan.

outlaw256 04-30-2012 03:52 AM

dan, ive used the sneaky white powder also. i would use it now if i could get it here. for my increasing pain. not the high.i was 17 when i tried to quit. i was selling it and staRTED USING it and became addicted.i put my parents thru hell. there wasnt rehabs like there are today.a neigbor lady tied me to a bed in her basement and i stayed ther tied to that bed for 5 days. puking. crapping and screaming in pain . i had finally quit and only used it after almost 40 yrs because of pain.but its not around here enough to get on a regular basest.so i use what the dr. gives me. good but not enough.anyway understand what you are going thru. i have a son who we have been have some trouble with. he has started to mess around some with narcotics.and with me using them daily its a hard fight.but there is a difference. im in pain and he is not.at least not physical pain.he lives in a 2 story cottage we built off our back deck. pays no rent and cant find another job.or so he says.hell hes 28 and i cant keep paying his way. so in the next few days he may be sleeping outside in the woods because im going to show him the door. it hurts me like ive never hurt before.with all the crap that has beening going on in my life now i have to deal with him and his problems. ive loaded one of my pistols the other day and put it in my mouth. pulled the hammer back but i could not pull the trigger.i decided then that its time to tell him he has to either get it together or take it somewhere else. i cant deal with it anymore. i have enough on my plate without him adding to it.i feel your pain.i understand right where you are. if you want to talk some let me know . hell it would help me too. lol
