I think it will be 4.90"s to 5.0's
Maybe some mid to high 80's depending how good the heads are. |

I do think a good change later on is a set of dart 355 heads for it. |
Thanks for the replies, I am hoping for 4.90's. I agree with the head change, the Merlin's look good though, John at APD done a valve job, and some bowl blend work on the heads a couple of weeks ago and he said they should have no problem making 850-875. I am planning to switch to a set of Head Hunters and make it a 582 if everything works out with it this summer. Thanks Allen

I'm with hammertime . . unless the car's a leadsled, it ought to run 4,80's in respectable air . .

Hope to test at London dragway next weekend if I get my trans. done and have no unexpected problems. I will post results as soon as I get them!!
|
Off to London Dragway today, I will post results tonight when I get home. I am going to say 4.95, it is supposed to be 85 degrees here today and this is only the second weekend on the race track, so it may not be up to par yet....

It ran [email protected]
1.08 5 3.14 8 4.88 0 141.00 Car ran great, no issues at all. However it was really inconsistant. Ran within 3 hundreths every pass, but was up and down .03. It was all in 60ft/330. It only moved .004 from 330 to 1/8 mile all day. Had a tire issue with my C07 15x33's (screw in 1 tire) so I put a set of 15x55 D05's on and I don't think it likes them. Car is dead hooked about 20ft and then shakes the hell out of them for another 20 ft. Track was good as no one else was having problems. |
so I put a set of 15x55 D05's
Sorry for typo. I put 15x33 D05's on it. |

About how much fuel should I use per pass?? I had 15 gallons to start the weekend, 3 time runs, 5 rounds, and my brother made a pass and I have no more alky. 15 gallons in 9 passes. Is this alot or not? Car gains about 15 degrees from starting line to finish line, ran 4.89 off trailer then 88-90-89-88-90-89-88
|
Dunno about the particulars for your engine, but it sounds about right . .
Heat's OK, E.T.s consistent. It's a "Bracket car" . . Got any idea of what your EGT was? That'll tell you a lot when tuning an alky car . . But I don't have much Eighth Mile Experience, and what I have is with a Blown 540" Aluminum "B" Mopar in an Altered . . So anything I come up with is probably a SWAG . . . Personally, you seem to be doing pretty shiny . . Keep it up . . |

Find a different tire ! |
I agree with David, about 1 1/2 gal per pass average if you're driving back to the pits. The 10/15 degrees increae is also about right i would guess that the tuneup is pretty much dead on. I burn about 1 1/2 gal per pass but we run a 1/8mi on a qtr track, so it's a long drive back to the pits and mine is a sm/blk.

Thanks guy's, I think the car will be deadly when I get that shake out of it. I agree with the tire change but thats all I had and I wanted to test. As far as EGT, I had the stuff ordered and was supposed to be here on Friday and it did not make it.
Hammertime, what tire do you recomend for this car with a 15" wheel?? I may have already ask you this, but forgot....... |
What does the car weigh?
Y'might call Hoosier Tire. They work well and aren't super sensitive to tire pressure. I'm guessing that your original 15X33 config is in the ballpark, but they can get you the right tire size, and right sidewall . . Which, on lighter cars, makes a big difference. Has a lot to do with how the wall wrinkles and keeps all the profile on the ground . . |
The d05 is to soft, you need something around a co6-co7.
