Intake gasket
When a Intake gasket blows out ,does it suck in or blow out? I am talking more about the front or back. Thanks in advance

I have seen either direction :!: :!:

A real violent backfire will blow them outward. Long decelerations with a tightly sealed cylinder can suck 'em inward. |

With proper crush and PARALLEL surfaces and a SKIM of sealer that is allowed to set before use, this should never happen. If the surfaces are NOT parallel, the gasket will have more tendency to squeeze out the 'big' end whether going outbound or inbound.

IT WOULD BLOW SOME OIL OUT,, NOT SUCK IN AIR,, BECAUSE OF THE INTERNAL PRESSURE,, pretty sure..
|
You are right ''bigray'' it would leak oil or at least everyone i have seen did :!: :!:

If you are running a vacuum pump, it will suck in. If not, the crankcase pressure will cause it to push oill out. The only thing I use on the ends to seal the intake after make sure it and the block are clean of any oil/water is Right Stuff from peratex.

believe it or not I use tire plug material that has the sticky already on it. just lay it across and trim to fit , never had a leak even on my blower motors.

I obviously did not 'READ' the question !!  For some reason I was thinking of the manifold to head surface......... 8) 8) 8) |
WOW,, NEVER THOUGHT OF A TIRE PLUG MATERIAL,, HUMMMM, BUT I STILL LIKE GOOD OL PERMATX. OR HOW EVER YOU SPELL IT,,

I can't take credit for it though , I was at races when I saw someone else do it and was surprised how well it worked..you can buy a card with a dozen on it at most parts houses. , works great , no mess...Paul |
