The blue one pec. That is what I used. No leaks there. I has a very very small leak from my fuel filter. One drip every hour. I say one to many with fuel. |

That's what i use cast alum valve covers, And another thing i do is you know the front and rear intake gaskets, Well for me they go in the trash and i use axle sealer tough stuff :!: :!:

I used the RTV black for that. |
Shoot you have to pry my intake off, I bet after it set's up you could run without any bolt's in it :!: :!: I use the orange axle sealer matches engine color LOL :!: :!:
Mark |
ive used pro clear blue black and red with out any problems
|
i leak when i stand up   --would that gasket sealer help
|
nope need an engine diaper lol

I hate leaks too. Mine doesn't have any leaks and it's a mud racing truck. It does have little oil to slosh out of the dry sump breather. I've got one of the breathers with the half hood around it so it keeps the oil off the headers.

I Hate Leaks
For front and rear intake seals, I use Valco Silver/Aluminum silicone RTV. It matches the intake's color great and I think it is better than other RTV's.
|
Where do you get that sealer :?: :?:
Mark |
I have real good luck with ultra black....never a leak, as always a lot of sealer falures are the result of improper cleaning

Gotta clean it for any of them sealants to work. I use alcohol or brake parts clear to remove ALL oily residue and I too use ultra black, no leaks here and yeah..... The intake/oil pan are sometimes a bitch to get off but its worth it. |
X2 on ultrablack.
|
the Ultra Grey is the strongest stuff I ever seen and I have used them all..
and your right Mark you could hold the intake down with Ultra Grey with no bolts and it would go nowhere |
I hate Leaks
Ok, here is info on Valco.
Valco Cincinnati Consumer Products. www.valco-cp.com Look at bottom of home page to right side, "Where To Buy" for dealers. Doug Herbert is one and so is Fowler Engines. Silver Aluminum RTV 3 oz. is part number 71195. Great stuff. Not the same as any GE based silicone RTV. Other products I use are: Gellube 71756 Good areosol spray that sticks to metal. Hylomar Gasket Maker . 2 types. Aerosol is great for copper head gaskets and blue in a tube is good for gaskets too. Also look at the ENGINE BUILDERS kit assortment 71859 They have a variety of products you might find useful. Of course the prices are at manufacturers suggested retail and there should be a discount almost anywhere I buy my Valco at VSI warehouse at a good discount, but you have to be a dealer with them. One of my customers bought a truck pulling engine from the owner of Valco and he gave us a good supply of products to try out. |
Well shi*. I now have a nice leak on my intake. I about had a heart attack Saturday moring when I saw something dripping from between the head and block. After pulling the clip I found that it's leaking from the front of the intake.

Right Stuff Black from Permatex. You can lift a SBC by the carb flange with no bolts in the intake once it sets up.
|
